The Knights and Orchids Society (TKO) envisions a future where Transgender, Lesbian, Bisexual, and Gay (TLBG) Black people are empowered to live full and healthy lives free from harm. Our mission is to build the power of TQBLG Black people across the south by providing a spectrum of health and wellness services designed to address the social determinants of health that negatively impact our communities. Since 2019, we have provided 258 clients with services through our primary program Fast, Affirming, Innovative Testing and Healthcare or FAITH.

Right now, young trans people, particularly Black and Brown trans youth, are under attack across the country and around the world. The COVID-19 pandemic has exacerbated unsafe conditions for trans youth who are houseless, in foster care, in detention, and in abusive or otherwise unsafe housing situations. We want to show trans young people that they are loved, supported, and have a family of people around the world who care about them and want them to succeed. Anyone can be a Santa, join us! Right now, there are hundreds of bills pending in state legislatures across the United States that target trans youth and aim to curb their rights. The impact of fighting these anti-trans bills and policies is felt all year by trans people, their families and loved ones. The organizations benefitting from this fund are 1) providing direct services to trans youth and 2) advocating for the rights of trans youth in the states that need it most. The Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation, Inc. mission is to: relentlessly pursue innovative means that accelerate the development of next-generation multiple myeloma treatments to extend the lives of patients and lead to a cure. To achieve this purpose, four goals are pursued: Funding research in the field of multiple myeloma, building collaborations among researchers and industry, providing disease and treatment related information to patients and family members while advocating for optimal patient care, and raising awareness of multiple myeloma.

Blessings in a Backpack mobilizes communities, individuals and resources to provide food on the weekends for elementary school children across America who might otherwise go hungry. Poor nutrition can result in a weaker immune system, increased hospitalization, lower IQ, shorter attention spans, and lower academic achievement. 69% of children in America are on free or reduced meals at their schools. Blessings in a Backpack is designed to feed these kids on the weekends by sending them home on Fridays with backpacks filled with staples that require little to no preparation. Starting at just $100, Blessings in a Backpack can feed a child for an entire school year. Since 2009, Blessings in a Backpack has provided 23.5 million hunger-free weekends for more than 838,000 children nationwide.

Philanthropy, Voluntarism and Grantmaking Foundations

IFP champions the future of storytelling by connecting artists with vital resources at all stages of development and distribution. IFP fosters a vibrant and sustainable independent storytelling community, represents a growing network of 10,000 storytellers around the world, and plays a key role in developing 350 new film, television, digital, audio, and immersive works each year. IFP guides storytellers through the process of making and distributing their work. Creative, technological and business support are provided through year-round programming including Filmmaker Magazine, IFP Week, IFP Gotham Awards, and IFP Labs. Member and public programming takes place at the IFP Made in NY Media Center with classes, workshops, pitching forums, screenings, meet-ups and exhibitions.
