CANTERA is a Nicaraguan, humanitarian, not-for-profit NGO that was founded in 1988. The Giraffe Heroes Project (aka the Giraffe Project) moves people to stick their necks out for the common good, and gives them tools to succeed. We find real heroes and tell their stories over traditional and social media. These stories inspire others to move into action too, helping solve tough public problems. Knowing that inspiration is rarely enough on its own, we publish books and blogs, update www.giraffe.org, give speeches and workshops and publish an E-zine, all aimed at giving activists both the inspiring stories and the practical tools needed to effect real change.
