PEMA CHOLING INSTITUTE is a residential Buddhist community of 100 women and girls aged 12 - 60 located in the Bumthang region of Bhutan. Many of the women arrive at Pema Choling with little or no education, from families of farmers or road laborers. The center offers basic education, vocational training and the opportunity to pursue traditional Buddhist studies at the highest academic level. Founded in 2000, the Institute contains the first shedra (Buddhist college) for women in the history of Bhutan allowing them to receive traditional education on a par with the greatest Buddhist learning centers for men in all of India and the Himalayas.

Museum of Jewish Heritage - A Living Memorial to the Holocaust is the nation's largest private Holocaust memorial and museum, and New York City's premiere Holocaust resource. The core exhibit is organized around three basic themes: Jewish Life a Century Ago, The War Against the Jews, and Jewish Renewal. The 2,000 photographs, 800 historical and cultural artifacts, and 24 original documentary films in the Museum's core exhibition represent just a small portion of the approximately 15,000 objects and 3,600 oral histories in the Museum's collection. Visitors, especially those with no immediate association with Judaism or the Holocaust, are prompted to make personal connections to the culture and history of others while reflecting upon their own roles in society in new ways.

Berman Hebrew Academy (MJBHA) is an Orthodox day school that provides a comprehensive Jewish and secular education in an atmosphere of reverence, good citizenship, and love of the Jewish people and Israel. Adhering to standards of academic excellence and exemplary moral conduct, it prepares its graduates to become Halachically observant, well-educated Jews. It provides opportunities for each student to achieve the maximum of his or her potential, engaged with, and contributing to both the Jewish community and the society at large. MJBHA is the only Modern Orthodox preschool - 12th grade day school in the Washington area. About 700 students learn in our dual-curriculum college preparatory program.
