The Mission of Nicholas House, Inc. is to assist families in making the transition from homelessness to self-sufficiency. Nicholas House understands that providing basic subsistence - food and shelter, is necessary but not sufficient to prevent most homeless persons from becoming homeless again. Nicholas House helps families address the root causes of their homelessness by offering counseling, case management, assistance with life skills and parenting, and other supportive services.
Program activities are as follows:*Home construction, repair and rehabilitation for low-income persons living in deteriorating housing,*Vocational training for unskilled workers particularly in the construction trades,*Assistance in the development and start-up of small businesses by persons who lack the economic ability and expertise to do so without assistance,*Creation of job opportunities for unemployed persons, andmobilization of relief workers to areas of disaster and poverty.
