Empower the Blind and Visually Impaired in Africa through assistive Technology

Mission statement: Empowering communities who work to ensure that children growing up in poverty get good health and an excellent education. Founding principles: We efficiently respond to the urgent needs of orphans and vulnerable children and the communities they live in. We believe that education is one of the fundamentals of success. By paying for students' school fees and providing scholastic materials (ie. school uniforms), we increase the opportunity for educational achievement.

To provide a work readiness programme for post school young people GSES was formed in May 2012 from a group of education and technology consultants who are passionate to facilitate change in South African schools. Programme Components In order to achieve maximum affect for our objectives , Green Shoots offers four key programme components. Each programme component is characterised by innovative strategies, measurable outcomes and an ongoing monitoring and evaluation plan. A programme component can be implemented individually as a Project or components can combined to form a multifaceted Project. 1. Curriculum & Pedagogy - Teacher training, professional development, Science & Maths focus 2. Technology assisted learning - Digital curriculum & integration, learner tracking & data analysis, after school programmes 3. Technical Support - Educational IT programmes design & implementation, technical issue resolution 4. Youth Development Programmes

To reduce the burden of human cancer, research conducted at the Institute for Cancer Research of Fox Chase Cancer Center for over eight decades has led to ground-breaking discoveries affecting science and medicine today. Current research programs are wide-ranging and include gene expression; molecular aspects of oncogenesis; viral molecular biology and pathogenesis; molecular structure and function analysis; pharmacology and therapeutics; regulation and development of the immune system; cell-cycle control; and human genetics. Opportunities are available for postdoctoral fellowships and graduate training and for professionals interested in developing technology-based business relationships or partnerships with Fox Chase.

To promote conservation of ocean ecosystems with a special focus on threatened and endangered sea turtles.

Clean Oceans International (COI) is a California-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit working to reduce ocean plastic pollution through science, community engagement, and practical solutions. Our work focuses on two complementary approaches: Community Science & Data (EPAP) Through our Environmental Plastic Assessment Program (EPAP), we train volunteers, students, and partner organizations to measure plastic pollution on coastlines using standardized survey methods. This work generates consistent, comparable data that helps communities understand pollution trends, evaluate cleanup efforts, and advocate for informed solutions. Developing Practical Waste Solutions (PPWC) COI is actively developing small-scale plastic waste conversion systems designed for communities with limited waste infrastructure. This work is currently in the research and development phase, with the goal of creating a safe, adaptable, and deployable system. We are collaborating with partners in places such as Ulithi Atoll and Baghdad, where local teams are currently conducting plastic assessments and cleanups to better understand their waste streams and inform future system design and potential deployment. From Data to Action COI connects field data with on-the-ground action—supporting coastal cleanups, long-term beach adoption efforts, and partnerships that turn information into impact. By combining measurement, education, and implementation, we help communities move from awareness to informed decision-making.

The Center for Whale Research conducts long‑term scientific monitoring of Southern Resident killer whales — including annual censuses and health assessments — to inform conservation policy and ecosystem recovery. It also runs public outreach and education programs (including an outreach center) to raise awareness and support for orca and habitat protection.

Seacoast Science Center inspires curiosity about the ocean and coastal environments, provides hands‑on marine science education for all ages, and promotes conservation action to protect the “Blue Planet.”

Delivers education and humanitarian aid to displaced and refugee children, ensuring dignity, learning, and hope in crisis situations.

"Connecting Cambodian Youth to the skills, opportunities, and inspirations needed to reach their potential." This is the mission of PEPY Empowering Youth, a local non-profit (NGO) focused on educating and empowering youth in underserved and remote communities outside of Siem Reap city. With their team's intimate understanding of barriers affecting students' ability to move onto higher education (many team members are former beneficiaries of PEPY's projects), PEPY staff often become student's first role models while building their capacity to achieve their dreams through academic, technical, and professional training- enabling them to make changes they wish to see in their communities. Through PEPY, students' rates of moving onto higher education and obtaining skilled employment are increasing. PEPY's approach to education development is different because they focus on high school and higher education students, an age group often overlooked, while targeting remote areas where higher education is uncommon and often financially impossible. PEPY's programs are comprehensive and go beyond typical scholarship programs, guaranteeing that students graduate and all of them find jobs while they are still in school.
