The mission of Communities for a Better Environment (CBE) is to build people’s power in California’s communities of color and low income communities to achieve environmental health and justice by preventing and reducing pollution and building green, healthy and sustainable communities and environments.  CBE helps residents in urban areas to change the environmental policies and practices that put their health and well-being at risk. CBE utilizes three integrated strategies to impact change in its target communities: community organizing, science-based advocacy, and legal intervention.

The Garden's commitment to the community is to advance excellence in education, research, exhibition, and conservation of desert plants of the world with emphasis on the Sonoran Desert. Wildlife Alliance’s mission is to protect and preserve forests and wildlife for future generations. We work directly with communities and governments to improve forest management and institute good governance to comprehensively address the devastation of ecosystems and combat the illegal wildlife trade. Our programs in Southeast Asia and the Russian Far East fight forest crime in high biodiversity areas, and actively promote diversified agriculture, community-based ecotourism, and reforestation. We create economic incentives and build political will within communities to preserve the environment.

WildCare advocates for wildlife for a sustainable world, and leads the way in showing people how to live well with wildlife through a complete cycle respectful, practical and humane programs in wildlife rehabilitation and environmental education. Working in the fluctuating boundaries between humans and wildlife, WildCare assists with our Wildlife Solutions service and our Living with Wildlife Hotline -- 415.456.SAVE -- as well as dozens of different programs in nature education and wildlife rehabilitation.
