All it takes is one storm. PLAN!T NOW was formed in 2004 after Hurricane Ivan, a Category 5 storm, struck the island nation of Grenada, reducing its rain forest to shrubs, removing roofs from 90 percent of homes, and killing dozens–including children. Originally formed as the Grenada Relief Fund, we assisted in recovery projects in the country, furthering the understanding that appropriate preparedness measures can have a significant positive impact on how a community fares during a storm. Through our work we learned this important lesson: Disaster happens when preparation doesn’t. Today PLAN!T NOW advocates for the power of preparedness as we educate, engage and connect people and organizations preparing for and dealing with natural and human-made disasters. Through a range of programs and resources–including funding emergency kits and planning tools for families in need in Mexico and the U.S.–we’re working to expand our reach to make more communities safer, now and for the future.

Books For Africa's mission is to end the book famine in Africa. BFA collects, sorts and ships donated textbooks, reference and general reading books, as well as computers and e-readers, throughout Africa. BFA has delivered over 61 million books, serving all 55 African countries since 1988.

OBAT Helpers is a 501(c) 3, non-profit organization committed to providing aid, support, education and economic empowerment to the displaced, unfortunate and forgotten population residing in camps in Bangladesh. Commonly known as stranded Pakistanis, Biharis or Urdu speaking people, they have been suffering silently in the countless slums or makeshift camps scattered across Bangladesh, for the past 44 years. Their displaced status and dire living conditions were a consequence of a civil war between Pakistan and Bangladesh and the unresolved political conflict between them. Altogether, there are about 300,000 people languishing in one hundred and sixteen makeshift camps in extremely poor conditions- they live in abject poverty with no access to basic amenities of living.

The mission of the Amazon Conservation Association is to unite science, innovation, and people to protect the western Amazon – the greatest wild forest on Earth. We envision a thriving Amazon that sustains the full diversity of life. Two decades in, we have protected over 8.15 million acres of rainforest; provided cutting-edge tools to government and forest users to protect their lands; empowered hundreds of indigenous communities to develop forest-friendly livelihoods; and hosted thousands of scientists pioneering innovative research at our three conservation hubs.
