The mission of the Washington Humane Society (WHS) is to protect animals in the Washington, DC area from cruelty and harm.  WHS, the only Congressionally-chartered animal welfare agency in the United States, has been the area’s leading voice for animals since 1870. As the only open-access shelter in the Nation’s Capital, the Washington Humane Society provides comfort and care to nearly 30,000 animals each year through its broad range of programs and services including sheltering for homeless animals, a comprehensive adoption program and off-site adoption events to find new families for the animals in our care, low-cost spay and neuter for pet owners and other local organizations, an aggressive TNR (trap-neuter-return) program for feral cats (CatNiPP), investigations of each allegation of animal cruelty or neglect through the Humane Law Enforcement, lost and found services to help reunite lost pets with their families, pet behavioral advice to help resolve issues that lead to animals being relinquished to shelters, working with breed rescue groups to find more homes for more animals, volunteer and foster programs to allow other members of the community to help us help more animals and an award-winning Humane Education program that teaches kindness to animals to the next generation of animal lovers.

The Seeing Eye is a philanthropic organization whose mission is to enhance the independence, dignity and self-confidence of blind people through the use of Seeing Eye dogs.

The Cleveland APL's mission is to foster compassion and end animal suffering. The Cleveland APL's programs primarily serve Cuyahoga county, but the organization is committed to assisting as many animals and people beyond those borders whenever our resources and capacity for care allow. The animal adoptions program is available to any person who is willing to travel to the Cleveland APL and provide a good, loving home for an animal. By law, the Cleveland APL's jurisdiction for humane law enforcement is limited to Cuyahoga county, Ohio.

The Marine Mammal Center is a nonprofit veterinary hospital, research and educational center dedicated to the rescue and rehabilitation of ill and injured marine mammals, primarily elephant seals, harbor seals, and California sea lions. Its research team studies the causes of illness in these animals, and by doing so, learns about conditions affecting the health of marine mammal populations and the oceans – discovering conditions that can affect humans as well. In addition, the Center’s education programs teach thousands of students and the visiting public each year about marine mammals and the urgent need for environmental stewardship of earth’s marine environments.

The mission of 4 Paws for Ability is to: - Enrich the lives of children with disabilities by the training and placement of quality, task trained service dogs to provide increased independence for the children and assistance to their families. - Enrich the lives of veterans from recent conflicts who have lost the use of their limbs or their hearing while in active combat. - Educate the public to accept the use of service dogs in public places. - Assist with animal rescue when possible.

K9s For Warriors is dedicated to ending Veteran Suicide through the use of highly trained Service Dogs. With the majority of dogs being rescues, this innovative program allows the K9/Warrior team to build an unwavering bond that facilitates their collective healing and recovery. The Mohawk Hudson Humane Society (MHHS) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that has been providing shelter for lost, abused and unwanted animals since 1887. The Society is the oldest and largest animal protection organization in New York's Capital Region, receiving an average of over 6,000 animals per year. To carry out our work for the animals, MHHS receives no ongoing funding from federal, state or local governments or any other animal welfare organization. Our Mission is to protect the health and safety of animals by providing charitable assistance in our no-kill shelter for all animals. We will be the over-flow for all City and County shelters, while assisting traditional rescues with medical and foster programs. Bestow daily care, rehabilitate homeless, displaced, or injured animals; to find such animals’ good homes; and to educate the public as to how to bring about a time when the shelters are only empty cages and unwanted animals will never be destroyed needlessly. We have only just begun and need your support - Our goal is to build the first fully solar powered 65 acre no-kill sanctuary in California to be the over-flow for the city and county shelters, while assisting traditional rescues with medical and a foster program. We are currently fundraising to buy land and build homes where animals can live in healthy surroundings until they are adopted.
