Teach For Ukraine

Teach For Ukraine (TFU) is a registered non-profit organization working to address the problem of education inequity in Ukraine. Our mission is to ensure that every child in Ukraine can realize their potential through a quality education, especially during the war. Before the War Before Russia's large-scale invasion in February 2022, Teach For Ukraine was focused on bridging the educational gap between children from rural and urban areas, which was almost 2.5 years difference in their knowledge and skills (PISA-2018). We recruited, trained, and placed more than 50 teacher-leaders in disadvantaged schools with a high teacher shortage, a lack of role models for children to look up to, and opportunities for developing their talents. We partnered with 18 schools in the five regions of Ukraine, including Kyiv, Lviv, Ivano-Frankivsk, Dnipro, and Odesa regions. This gave us the opportunity to provide more than 5,000 children with young, talented, tech-savvy, and highly motivated teachers. The Impact Report can be found here. During the War When the large-scale war started, we temporarily suspended our core program to launch the Emergency Response Projects. In the last 18 months, we provided direct and indirect academic and psychosocial support to more than 25,000 children inside and outside Ukraine and 90,000 educators, partnering with UNICEF, the World Bank, Save the Children and others. These projects included free online tutoring classes, safe learning spaces for displaced children, offline summer camps and wellbeing workshops for teachers.

Charity organization Hope and Believe

The mission of Hope and Belief Charitable Organization is to provide targeted assistance to children from Ukraine who are suffering from serious or incurable diseases. Assistance is provided to the parents of such children in the form of necessary medicines for the child, payment for hospitalization or medical equipment. Today, the organization's activities are aimed at helping children suffering from epilepsy, insulin-dependent diabetes, oncological diseases and diseases of the visual organs. Within the framework of the organization's work, we directly contact the child's parents (guardians), check the documents provided, assess the possibilities of our help and conduct fundraising activities to raise funds for the child's treatment. Most of our projects describe a specific case of a child's disease and are aimed at helping a particular child. An important feature of our activity is the verification of the financial status of the family whose application for support we are considering. If the Board of Directors of the organization decides to support the child's treatment, the assistance is provided on a long-term basis and is subject to mandatory agreement with the attending physician. We support only those medical needs that are not provided free of charge at the expense of the Ukrainian state. The Foundation's programs have been running for years. Some programs, such as help for children with cancer, have been carried out by the organization since its establishment. Our organization regularly reviews a variety of serious childhood illnesses for systemic problems with funding by government agencies. The Foundation's new programs are aimed at eliminating the problems of financing children's treatment in certain medical areas. This work involves identifying basic treatment needs and engaging in dialogue with medical professionals and parents who are experiencing problems with their children's care. At least 45% of all donations to the organization come from private donors. In addition, our organization has projects carried out jointly with banks, insurance companies and other large Ukrainian organizations.

Foundation For Environmental Education

Established in 1981, the Foundation for Environmental Education (FEE) is one of the world's largest environmental education organisations, with over 100 member organisations in 81 countries. At the heart of the FEE are our five programmes. Coordinated by the Head Office in Copenhagen and implemented by our members around the world, our programmes aim to bring positive change on a global scale: The internationally recognized Eco-Schools programme engages young people in quality environmental education and meaningful action. Through a seven-step framework, pupils are empowered and motivated to drive change and improve environmental awareness in their school, local community and beyond. Close to 50,000 schools around the world are part of the Eco-Schools programme. Learning about Forests (LEAF) advocates for outdoor learning and hands-on experiences, allowing students to connect with nature and develop a deeper understanding of the natural world. While the LEAF programme started with a focus on tree-based ecosystems, today it includes a diversity of ecosystems to foster skills and knowledge by exposing learners to outdoor experiences. LEAF is implemented in 28 countries. Young Reporters for the Environment (YRE) is an award-winning programme that empowers young people to take an educated stand on environmental issues they feel strongly about and gives them a platform to articulate these issues through the media of writing, photography and video. Over 300,000 students engage in the YRE programme yearly. The iconic Blue Flag programme is one of the world's most recognized eco-tourism awards for beaches, marinas, and tourist boat operators. In order to qualify for the Blue Flag, a series of stringent environmental, educational, safety, and accessibility criteria must be met and maintained. Over 5,000 beaches, marinas and tourism boats are currently awarded. Green Key is a voluntary eco-certification programme. With more than 4,000 certified hotels and other establishments in 60 countries, Green Key is the leading standard for excellence in the field of environmental responsibility and sustainable operation within the tourism and hospitality industry. With 40 years of impactful experience in Education for Sustainable Development (ESD), FEE's strategic plan - GAIA 20:30 - prioritises climate action across all five programmes to address the urgent threats of climate change, biodiversity loss and environmental pollution. FEE's Environmental Education Principles The member organisations of FEE have agreed upon these principles to guide our work towards excellence in EE/ESD: 1. Ensure that participants are engaged in the learning/teaching process. 2. Encourage participants to make reasonable decisions and actions on real life sustainability issues. 3. Encourage participants to work together actively and involve their communities in collaborative solutions. 4. Support participants to examine their assumptions, knowledge, and experiences, in order to develop critical thinking and to be open to change. 5. Encourage participants to be aware of cultural practices as an integral part of sustainability issues. 6. Encourage participants to share inspirational stories of their achievements, failures, and values, to learn from them and to support each other. 7. Continuously explore, test and share innovative approaches, methodologies, and techniques. 8. Ensuring continuous improvements through monitoring and evaluating are central focus of our programmes. FEE's overall Mission is to engage and empower people through education in collaboration with our members and partners worldwide.
