The mission of Special Olympics is to provide year-round sports training and competition in a variety of Olympic-type sports for all children and adults with intellectual disabilities, giving them continuing opportunities to develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage, experience joy, and participate in the sharing of gifts, skills, and friendships with their families, other Special Olympics athletes, and the community.

THE PRIMARY EXEMPT PURPOSE OF THE FOUNDATION IS TO PROVIDE CLASSROOM AND ON-WATER SAILING INSTRUCTION FOR THE PHYSICALLY DISABLED. THE FOUNDATION IS IN A PARTNERSHIP WITH THE CHICAGO PARK DISTRICT WHEREBY THE FOUNDATION RAISES FUNDS FOR INSTRUCTOR SALARIES, BOATS AND MAINTENANCE COSTS WHILE THE PARK DISTRICT OPERATES THE PROGRAM ON A DAY-TO-DAY BASIS.
The Kal-Haven Trail is an amazing 34 mile long linear, multi-use trail that links Kalamazoo to South Haven and is southwest Michigan’s premier tourist destination. The Trail passes through busy towns and small villages, open farmland and orchards, delicate wetlands and ends on the shores of Lake Michigan.
Through exceptional summer camp and year-round programs, Camp Blodgett's mission is to provide youth of our community with an educational and recreational experience that promotes social responsibility, encourages academic success and supports development of a healthy self-esteem.
