In 1988, St. Joseph the Worker was founded in response to urgent pleas of the homeless while serving dinner in the park, “we want to work, but we don’t have the tools.” Since then, the mission has remained: to assist homeless, low-income, and other disadvantaged individuals in their efforts to become self-sufficient through quality employment.

Tribe + Glory empowers activated female entrepreneurs to achieve self-sustainability through relationship, craftsmanship, and entrepreneurship. It is our desire to equip women with the necessary skills to achieve their dreams, and become agents of transformation in their communities. Tribe + Glory currently operates in Uganda, the UK, and the USA, but within 5 years plans to be in two additional countries.

The Lighthouse for the Blind, Inc. empowers people who are blind, DeafBlind, and blind with other disabilities by creating sustainable employment opportunities and providing training and supportive services that foster independence and career advancement. Its programs include manufacturing and service lines that provide on-the-job training, low-vision/rehabilitation services, orientation & mobility, and DeafBlind supports.

Julie's Family Learning Program (Julie's) was established in 1974 by the Sisters of Notre Dame in response to their experiences in South Boston with large numbers of families, mostly female-headed, living with the pervasive effects of poverty. Julie's is committed to the development of strong, healthy family functioning. The goals of the program encompass a commitment to break the cycle of poverty among low income, at-risk families. We are steadfast in providing services that enable mothers and their children become healthy, responsible, successful at life, and economically self-sufficient members of their communities.

CWEE fosters personal and professional transformation for low-income families through confidence building, customized skills training, and career advancement.

Mission: The Center for Youth provides comprehensive programs and services from prevention education to counseling to emergency shelter to youth development opportunities with respect for and full participation of youth. We deliver these services with the deep belief that young people, given information and support, want to and can make their own positive life choices.Vision: The Center for Youth will be a model for best practices in partnering with youth so all youth meet their potential.Our Promise to Youth: The Center for Youth is the best organization to turn to for young people seeking to deal with, explore, or understand issues of importance to them from their perspective and on their terms.

Since 1989, Elijah’s Promise has harnessed the power of food to break the cycle of poverty, alleviate hunger and change lives for the most vulnerable members of our Central New Jersey community. We operate a community soup kitchen, culinary arts school, catering business, community gardens and connect low-income individuals and families with social and health services. With the support of volunteers, donors and community partners, we serve more than 200,000 free meals per year and train previously unskilled workers for careers in the culinary arts.
