Sunnyvale Community Services

Founded in 1970, the mission of Sunnyvale Community Services (SCS) is to prevent homelessness and hunger in our local community. Our vision is a community where everyone has a home with food on the table. SCS serves as a hub for safety net services in North Santa Clara County. SCS is one of seven nonprofit “Emergency Assistance Network” (EAN) agencies in Santa Clara County. Our EAN designated area includes all zip codes in Sunnyvale and Alviso. SCS also offers programs across Santa Clara County for families and seniors and unhoused individuals. Eighty-seven percent of our budget goes directly to local services for those in need. Our 3,000+ volunteers together contribute nearly 40,000 hours of effort each year, and we work collaboratively with 30+ community organizations.

Alhassan Foundation for Differently Abled Inclusion

Background: After a tragic car accident in 2011 that resulted in having an 18 year old young teenager to be a wheelchair user; his mother along with a group of 13 friends decided to make a difference when it comes to physical disability in Egypt and the Middle East after the challenges they faced and still are. Vision: To be the leading example developmental foundation in Egypt, Middle East and Africa that embrace wheelchair/physical disabilities with emphasis on endless possibilities. Mission: Alhassan Foundation is determined to providing "tailored solutions", facilities, re-habilitation and re-occupation for humans on wheelchairs, and their families to overcome their challenges and make best use of their different abilities. 1. Nurturing "YES I CAN" attitude among wheelchair users and their families 2. Changing society's mindset regarding viewing a wheelchair user as "disabled" to be "differently abled" 3. Involving the right mix of corporations, governmental entities, global organisations and individuals to achieve our vision. 4. Provide a franchised rehabilitation centres similar to those in Germany & UK. 5. Represent a franchised wheelchair factory. 6. Quality rehabilitation and reoccupation for wheelchair users changes individuals to be of value added to society rather than a burden. 7.
