The poverty stricken: People who are having trouble breaking the cycle of poverty and dependence on outside help.Those in situational poverty: Situational poverty is a condition caused by a single event and is often temporary.
Since 1953, the mission of their shelter has been to provide a haven for Huron county residents to safely surrender their animals when unforeseen circumstances come up. We accept dogs, cats, and other domesticated animals. We are unable to accept stray or outdoor cats and all stray or lost dogs must go to the Huron County Dog Warden. Cradle of Hope provides transitional housing and wrap‑around support to single mothers and their young children, focusing on physical, emotional, and spiritual needs to help families stabilize, find employment, and secure permanent housing. The organization also operates a pregnancy resource program offering counseling and decision‑making support.
IFC confronts the causes and responds to the effects of poverty in our community. We believe in a community where everyone's basic needs are met, including dignified and affordable housing, an abundance of healthy food, and meaningful social connection.
Ronald McDonald House Charities of Idaho keeps families with ill or injured children close to needed medical care by providing a “home away from home,” in-hospital family rooms, and hospitality carts. The chapter focuses on removing barriers, strengthening families, and promoting healing so families can stay together while a child receives treatment.
LISTEN provides services and support to meet the critical needs of Upper Valley individuals and families.
Gilda’s Club South Jersey provides free psychosocial support, education, and community programs for people affected by cancer and their families. It runs professionally‑led support groups, wellness and educational workshops, and age‑appropriate services for children and teens to help members cope and connect.
Rainbows United provides early intervention, preschool/childcare, therapies, targeted case management, specialized foster care and family support for children (birth–21) with developmental delays or disabilities and their families. They coordinate community resources to deliver individualized services that improve children’s developmental, educational, and family well‑being.
YWCA Northern NJ is dedicated to eliminating racism, empowering women, and promoting peace, justice, freedom, and dignity for all.
Filling in the Blanks works to reduce childhood hunger by providing weekend meal bags to children who rely on school meals, and by operating school-based pantries and a mobile pantry to deliver fresh and staple foods to families. The organization partners with schools and community groups across Fairfield, Westchester, and Putnam counties to increase food access and connect families with wrap‑around services.
Friendship Home provides overnight respite care, social-recreation programs and vocational/individual support services for people with developmental disabilities and their families on the South Shore of Massachusetts. Its programs (including an overnight “Home Away From Home,” the Bridges to Work vocational program, and Friendship Club social activities) aim to build life skills, community inclusion, independence and meaningful social connections.
