Stichting Greenpeace MENA

GP MENA (Middle East and North Africa) is the latest organisation in the Greenpeace network that officially started in 2018. In the past three years the office has grown with 23 FTE staff distributed across the region. Individually and collectively, what we believe and how we see the world is reflected in our actions and behaviours and at Greenpeace MENA, we believe that a better world is not only possible, but that it's already beginning. We envision a world where a billion acts of courage can spark a better tomorrow for all, this optimism is what sets us apart in the region where many seem to have thrown up their hands in despair. Greenpeace MENA aspires to help build, and be part of a vibrant environmental justice movement that puts the climate emergency and a just energy transition high on the social and political agendas. We rely on traditional and digital campaigning to reach out and engage with more than 400 million Arabs at home and around the world - bridging the gaps between borders. As a relatively small team covering a wide geographical area, our success depends on making 'magic' happen, by connecting the dots, empowering local initiatives and telling powerful and inspiring stories. The monsters we face are apathy and fear, and the gifts we offer are knowledge, action and hope.

I WATCH Organization

I WATCH" is an independent, non-profit Tunisian watchdog organization, founded in March 2011. It aims to combat corruption and improve transparency. I WATCH is based on two basic principles: No to exclusion: The organization does not exclude anyone based on a religious, political, ideological, or regional background. No trusteeship: "I WATCH" believes in the youthful energies of Tunisia. The youth who made the revolution have the qualifications that make them trustworthy. The organization works to include young people in the decision-making system and rejects trusteeship in any way due to lack of experience. I WATCH has been working for eleven years with the government and elected institutions, civil society stakeholders and journalists to promote accountability and transparency in the public and private sectors. The organization has conducted several advocacy campaigns with local civil society organizations to improve the anti-corruption legal framework. Since 2013, I WATCH is also member in the joint committee (Ministry of Finance and Civil Society) which aims to provide the ministry with key policy recommendations on fiscal and budget issues). In 2016 / 2017, I WATCH has managed to push for the adoption of access to information law, whistle-blowers protection law and asset declaration. In 2016, we have created a network of Parliamentarians Against Corruptions (PACs) which aimed at helping I WATCH advocate for anticorruption policies in Tunisian legislation. In 2019, we created a civil society alliance to enhance public budget transparency at the local level, and we launched the Local Integrity System (LIS) to assess financial transparency and integrity in municipalities. The project aimed to evaluate the performance of municipalities and provide technical and financial assistance to local CSOs to engage with their municipalities, create local accountability networks capable of holding local office bearers into account. In addition, we have engaged journalists to produce investigations related to corrupt practices and we are now working with local communities and local CSOs to build their capacities and help them establish their own radio stations on the FM band. I WATCH runs an YALAC center since 2015 and last year the center has received 326 alerts, filed 4 cases before the penal judiciary, 21 cases before administrative court; 140 ATI cases, sent 130 access to information (ATI) requests, and received 326 alerts from whistleblowers. Using the access to information law, YALAC team filled in 2022, 130 requests before several institutions such as ministries, the head of government, the parliament, and the presidency. In addition, the organization works on strategic litigation, during the first quarter of 2023, 2 cases aimed at improving the integrity of the political scene in Tunisia were filled; the first case was brought against the Minister of Justice for non-compliance with the regulations and orders made by the competent authority. While the second was brought against a lawyer and a political party for their racist statements and attempts to direct public opinion against sub-Saharan populations living in Tunisia. Facing an increasingly obscure political context and lack of responsiveness from public institutions and administrations regarding access to information requests. Furthermore, we have monitored every election since the 2011 uprising totaling the number of elections that we have observed so far to 6 national elections, in addition to monitoring campaign finance, vote-buying and the abuse of state resources. After each election, I WATCH launches an "meter" to evaluate the Prime Minister / President's promises against what s/he really achieved during their mandate. In its 2020-2023 strategy, I WATCH has developed a vision for media that aims to provide local and community radio with the needed skills and means to achieve a wider audience. I WATCH has been working for three years on the media sector, whether by working on technical assistance to local radios across Tunisia or by creating its own media platforms (Shbebek, iBlog or its FM radio SON FM which broadcasts on 100.00FM in Grand Tunis and on wwwSonfm.tn). SON FM has 11 full-time employees (including journalists, sound technicians, community managers) and 10 IWATCH employees involved in the production and animation of radio programs.

UNFPA Libya

The mandate of UNFPA, as established by the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) in 1973 and reaffirmed in 1993, is (1) to build the knowledge and the capacity to respond to needs in population and family planning; (2) to promote awareness in both developed and developing countries of population problems and possible strategies to deal with these problems; (3) to assist their population problems in the forms and means best suited to the individual countries' needs; (4) to assume a leading role in the United Nations system in promoting population programmes, and to coordinate projects supported by the Fund. At the International Conference on Population and Development (ICPD), held in Cairo in 1994, these broad ideas were elaborated to emphasise the gender and human rights dimensions of population. UNFPA was given the lead in helping countries carry out the Programme of Action adopted by 179 governments at the Cairo Conference. In 2010, the United Nations General Assembly extended the ICPD beyond 2014, which was the original end date for the 20-year Programme of Action.

Founded in 2018, the ITTF Foundation was created by the International Table Tennis Federation as an independent nonprofit organization. The Foundation aims to create positive impacts through table tennis in communities worldwide. The ITTF Foundation operates through five programs to foster development through table tennis, contributing to the UN Sustainable Development Goals. The team tirelessly designs and implements initiatives that promote inclusivity, education, and empowerment, ensuring that the sport becomes a catalyst for positive social change. As a nonprofit organization we collaborate closely with local project implementation partners while we assist with planning, financial support, and knowledge sharing. Additionally, we connect with the Parkinson's community globally to promote the use of table tennis for enhancing well-being and health, particularly against neurodegenerative diseases.

SOS MEDITERRANEE is an international humanitarian and maritime organization dedicated to saving lives at sea founded in 2015 in response to the escalating humanitarian crisis in the Central Mediterranean - one of the world's deadliest migration routes. Our mission is urgent and clear: to conduct life-saving search and rescue operations at sea, providing immediate relief to those in distress and ensuring their safety, health, and protection until they reach a place of safety. Since 2016, reflecting our commitment to humanity and solidarity, we have rescued more than 41,000 people from over 50 countries - more than 10,000 of whom were children.

Les Oiseaux migrateurs

The mission of the association Les Oiseaux Migrateurs is to create a collaborative space organised around diasporas, making the link with the African continent. We federate an international network of artists, designers, entrepreneurs, students, researchers, innovators, architects, academics, brands and decision-makers from all over the world - to support and empower international youth. Ideal for learning, experimenting and prototyping sustainable and scalable solutions to the challenges our communities may face. Union de la Jeunesse Internationale is the community center created by Les Oiseaux Migrateurs in 2022, with a multidisciplinary and contemporary program that supports emerging diaspora talent and provides a platform for creative and entrepreneurial development. Breaking away from the "bourgeois hierarchy" of the arts and resolutely turned towards interculturality, the Union de la Jeunesse internationale offers an ambitious program of exhibitions, debates and workshops. The idea is to provide a platform for expression and knowledge-sharing for young people, and above all to create an avant-garde venue capable of taking the "pulse of what's happening in the world today", with an emphasis on diasporic cultures. It aims to encourage and connect creative people, entrepreneurs and thinkers by providing them with tools such as an exhibition hall, a workshop space, a radio station and a library.

KNE Sustainability Institute is a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting global sustainable thinking and action. Our goal is to accelerate the dissemination of sustainability knowledge through modern media and e-learning. We are funded through partnerships, grants, and collaborations with organizations committed to sustainability and regeneration. Our key initiatives include the Global Goals Compass, a tool that provides guidance on the UN Sustainable Development Goals, and ReGen.rocks, an interactive social learning platform designed to educate young people on sustainability, connect them in a social network and match them with regenerative projects. Additionally, we connect researchers in the field of sustainable development, create innovative e-learning programs, and support companies and organizations in effectively implementing sustainability and regeneration strategies. TheBoardroom Africa Foundation

Good governance ensures accountability, fairness, and transparency throughout our social, governmental, and business systems. On the African continent, women are underrepresented at every level in the workplace, especially in senior leadership roles. According to the UN, this type of unequal treatment of women in the workplace has cost Sub-Saharan Africa approximately $105bn and has significant implications on the utilization of the continents full human capital potential and achievement of its development goals. The Boardroom Africa was borne out of these realities. We champion female leadership on a pan-African level by building a network of women leaders who collectively dispel the myth that there aren't enough qualified women to support the growth of the continent. We help build role models at the top to change the way organizations are led through our educational content. We offer a board training program for women across the continent and to date, we've trained 64+ women. We also have built a community of over 1,000 women on the continent leading change and deliver open webinars, trainings, and meetups to upskill this network. Finally, we've conducted publicly released research on 13 African countries to assess the gender gap in their companies. We want to shift the demand by ensuring society realizes the benefits of increased female participation in leadership, and create an ecosystem of women who can go into the world and inspire others.

World Federation of the Deaf

he World Federation of the Deaf (WFD) is an international non-governmental organisation representing and promoting approximately 70 million deaf people's human rights worldwide. The WFD is a federation of deaf organisations from 134 nations; its mission is to promote the human rights of deaf people and full, quality and equal access to all spheres of life, including self-determination, sign language, education, employment and community life. WFD has a consultative status in the United Nations and is a founding member of International Disability Alliance (IDA). At its recent World Congress in Jeju, South Korea, WFD members (136) approved the WFD strategic direction 2023-2030 and Action Plan 2023-2027. Important themes are covered in these 2 documents which strive to ensure that we create access for all deaf people to all ways of life in "a world where deaf people everywhere can sign anywhere" (vision). Furthermore, our mission is to work towards the full realisation of linguistic rights and human rights in all areas of life, with full recognition and implementation of these rights across local, national and international levels. To realise our mission and vision, the following are part of our Action Plan 2023-2027: Building Capacity across the Globe: ensuring increased participation of women, youth and underrepresented communities; provide effective capacity building projects to countries who are not yet members to assist them with creating their own national deaf associations so that they can represent themselves in their countries; Putting Deaf people on the Agenda: the WFD will continue to strive to put deaf human rights at the forefront of all representation internationally, including at the UN; we will effectively promote International Week of Deaf people and be ready to response to deaf people's needs in times of crises, disasters and war. Realising nothing about us without us: the WFD continues to be the leading authority for deaf people and sign languages and has committed to developing resources to assist deaf people raise awareness in their countries. Achieving Sign Language Rights for all: National sign languages are fundamental to achieving deaf people's human rights. We will aim to assist our member states in promoting the legal recognition of signed language in the country and advocate for early childhood language acquisition and inclusive multilingual education policies. Investing in a strong and sustainable organisation: to carry out our mission and vision we need greater investment in our secretariat and regional secretariat, expand our donor base, increase visibility and fundraising activities so that our organisation can carry on its important global work.

AWI Foundation

Advancing Women in Investing (AWI) is a collaborative of more than 100 first-time and emerging female capital movers investing in emerging and frontier markets. Our long-term goal is to create a movement of change to democratize access to funding and opportunity for female investment vehicles managers (IVMs). Female investment professionals represent only 8% of all senior positions in venture capital and private equity firms in Africa and when then they strike out on their own, they struggle to raise capital. AWI was initially founded as a discussion group over WhatsApp to provide support and networking opportunities for members on the journey to start and raise capital for investment vehicles focused on sub-Saharan Africa. The organization has expanded its geography to include emerging markets in Africa, Asia and the Middle East and now helps to unlock channels to capital, skill building, tools and other resources that are currently very limited in the market. We accelerate the development and growth of these talented women to ensure diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) in the investing ecosystem.
