Justice Rights
Stichting Women's Initiatives for Gender Justice

Mission: WI works to achieve (global) gender justice Vision: A gender just world in which there is accountability for sexual and gender-based crimes and equality in, and through the law. Values: Empowerment of women Strength in collaboration Respect for the rule of law Victim-centered and human rights-based approaches Our Impact WI is an international NGO based in The Hague, the Netherlands. We seek to promote the inclusion of local voices in justice mechanisms and work to empower women and local actors to be engaged in domestic, regional and international peace and justice mechanisms. We advocate for a gender just world through high quality legal research and analysis to help move the field of gender jurisprudence forward. Through amicus curie briefs, our Gender Report Card, articles and blog posts, we raise issues related to gender justice and encourage courts and other justice mechanisms to apply a gender perspective to their work. We help to identify gaps in transitional justice mechanisms, provide mapping, and critical legal and gender analysis to identify barriers to justice. We work with local domestic actors to provide technical assistance, capacity-strengthening, and strategic interventions using a victim-centered approach.

Stichting Life Skills Nederland

At Life Skills we aim at helping the youth (10-18 year-olds) in Amsterdam South-East in the development of life skills, self-love, confidence and citizenship education. So that they have the tools to succeed in society and are able to take control of their lives for a sustainable and healthy future. We work on this by providing workshops and training, fieldtrips and homework and study guidence/counseling. Every child has the right to fair education en development. However, we know that there is also inequality in education. This is especially the case in neighborhoods where social, cultural and economic capital is minimal, such as Amsterdam South-East. In order to offer students from disadvantaged neighborhoods equal opportunities, extra education is being used, under the heading of tutoring or homework guidance. But there's more to it. The children that come to Life Skills grow up in a non-Western environment. An environment that often does not match the norms and values of Western society. When they finish their education and manifest themselves in society, there will be a cultural gap. What is missing are the skills and knowledge about the ins and outs of Western culture and Dutch society. They would end up in a culture shock, with mutual incomprehension and uncertainty. At Life Skills we want to help fill in this gap so that the youth from Amsterdam South-East as all the Life Skills it needs to succeed in life. Review "I found learning for my own good very difficult, but suddenly I was able to do my very best when helping others. In the end I also obtained my high school diploma. I have now been working at the Study House for three years and have been a student there for six years. I really enjoy working here and guiding other students in their schoolwork. I know that what is a small effort for me can mean a lot to the student. I also get a lot of energy from it and it still gives me self-confidence. Working at the Study House has made me realize that I really enjoy helping others. If it is up to me, I would like to continue working at the Study House for years to come!", Rabdaah Rehman. Study support Study support takes place from Monday to Friday from 13:45 - 18:45. 110 students can come to us for tailor-made coaching, homework guidance and study guidance. STORE SCHOOLS & PROJECTS C.I.C.

STORE is a not-for-profit Community Interest Company run as an association of designers, architects and artists who share a common goal: supporting more young people from disadvantaged backgrounds applying to creative courses, and addressing the social imbalance in art, design and architecture education. STORE STORE is our design shop and workshop space in Camden and Hackney. STORE offers an extensive portfolio of offerings for young people in London: STORE STORE after school club: The free art, design and architecture After School Clubs give young people from state schools in London, with priority given to pupil premium students, a unique chance to see their ideas go from imagination to reality, from initial concept through to design, prototype, manufacture and retail. The objects designed and prototyped in the After School Club are showcased in the shop, with royalties going to the students. We have run workshops in glass blowing, 3D printing, mycelium, milk plastic, bio plastics, pattern cutting and ceramics. These after school clubs help to supplement a students portfolio for university applications. Online after school club: Our free online After School Club program allows state school students across the country to take part, with maker kits sent out to each student. Last year we ran After School Clubs in digital animation, chocolate casting, 3D scanning, game design, augmented reality and Arduino coding and an architectural reading group in Minecraft. One day workshops in State schools: The free One Day Workshop program is a series of workshops run in state schools aimed at introducing young people to higher education in design and architecture. A series of technical manuals are compiled to accompany the program as documentation the students can use at university interviews while also acting as recipes for teachers and students to replicate the processes explored in the workshops. 2 week long architectural summer schools: Our free summer schools are collaborative design and construction projects which engage actively with the dynamics of the local communities they take place in. Our summer schools programs are open to state school students across the country. Portfolio preparation workshops: Every winter break we run portfolio preparation workshops for young people who are considering applying to university. We bring in tutors from universities and the admissions process to support students with compiling their portfolios and to give them advice about the different universities and courses that are available to them. STORE STORE Build: STORE STORE Build is a small-scale building project, run as an educational program, where the students taught have an active role in the delivery of the architectural project - from the planning and design phases to the actual construction of a building, all through a program of after school clubs over five years. This is a project that looks to up-skill a generation of Hackney's young people about their built environment, giving them a voice in how their communities are designed and built.

World Federation of the Deaf

he World Federation of the Deaf (WFD) is an international non-governmental organisation representing and promoting approximately 70 million deaf people's human rights worldwide. The WFD is a federation of deaf organisations from 134 nations; its mission is to promote the human rights of deaf people and full, quality and equal access to all spheres of life, including self-determination, sign language, education, employment and community life. WFD has a consultative status in the United Nations and is a founding member of International Disability Alliance (IDA). At its recent World Congress in Jeju, South Korea, WFD members (136) approved the WFD strategic direction 2023-2030 and Action Plan 2023-2027. Important themes are covered in these 2 documents which strive to ensure that we create access for all deaf people to all ways of life in "a world where deaf people everywhere can sign anywhere" (vision). Furthermore, our mission is to work towards the full realisation of linguistic rights and human rights in all areas of life, with full recognition and implementation of these rights across local, national and international levels. To realise our mission and vision, the following are part of our Action Plan 2023-2027: Building Capacity across the Globe: ensuring increased participation of women, youth and underrepresented communities; provide effective capacity building projects to countries who are not yet members to assist them with creating their own national deaf associations so that they can represent themselves in their countries; Putting Deaf people on the Agenda: the WFD will continue to strive to put deaf human rights at the forefront of all representation internationally, including at the UN; we will effectively promote International Week of Deaf people and be ready to response to deaf people's needs in times of crises, disasters and war. Realising nothing about us without us: the WFD continues to be the leading authority for deaf people and sign languages and has committed to developing resources to assist deaf people raise awareness in their countries. Achieving Sign Language Rights for all: National sign languages are fundamental to achieving deaf people's human rights. We will aim to assist our member states in promoting the legal recognition of signed language in the country and advocate for early childhood language acquisition and inclusive multilingual education policies. Investing in a strong and sustainable organisation: to carry out our mission and vision we need greater investment in our secretariat and regional secretariat, expand our donor base, increase visibility and fundraising activities so that our organisation can carry on its important global work.
