Our motto at Youth For Christ is "Geared to the times, Anchored to the Rock". We want to creatively reach out to hurting youth through our various initiatives. At Youth for Christ our goal is to make disciples of Jesus who have characteristics of Christ. We believe young people have incredible gifts and can be trusted to lead. We believe through strong partnerships with churches, our quality staff, God centered board members and committed volunteers we can influence hurting students one person at a time.

Scarborough Women's Centre provides information, education and support to women in transition away from abuse, isolation and poverty, towards economic and emotional independence. The Centre was recognized with the City of Toronto Mayor's Community Safety Award for its work with abused women and their children. Women from many different backgrounds, enrich each other through their experiences. Here are some examples of what your donation can do: $50 - one woman builds her self confidence through an 8 week group $150 - 12 women learn to improve their health through a special workshop $200 -two volunteers train as mentors with women in transition $500.00 – one woman supported to achieve her goal to leave abuse through 3 months of counselling $1,000 - 20 women develop personal strategies for success through an 8 week course The Centre raises 1/2 of its income from fundraising activities. Founded in 1941 by the Rev. Morris and Annie Zeidman, The Scott Mission is a non-denominational Christian organization responding to the needs of the poor, homeless abandoned and vulnerable of all ages. Based in Toronto, the Mission offers practical, emotional and spiritual support for thousands of people each year. Among other services, the Mission offers daily hot meals, a low-cost daycare, a summer camp for children and youth, free good-quality clothing, groceries, shower and laundry facilites for the homeless, an overnight program, shelter, an after-school program and friendly visitation and retreats for shut-ins. While religious belief and practice are never conditions for receiving help and assistance, and everyone is welcome regardless of faith background, The Scott Mission is committed to the spiritual well-being of all people through the life and witness of Jesus Christ.

Second Story Women's Centre provides information and referral on a wide variety of topics. There is a drop-in Centre with a library of pamphlets, videos and books. Counselling is available by appointment. One-on-one assistance is available with crisis intervention, accompaniment and advocacy. A Safe and Protected Environment The shelter maintains a confidential address. Twenty-four Hour Crisis Intervention The shelter offers a 24 hour crisis line and is staffed 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. A TTY line is available. Emergency Accommodation and Room and Board 27 beds are available for women and children. Meals, clothing and basic necessities are also provided Counselling Services for Abused Women Supportive counseling is available to women while they reside at the shelter. Staff and volunteers provide options and alternatives to aid women in making choices. An in-house support group meets weekly, offering an opportunity to discuss and learn more about abuse issues. Children’s Program Child and youth workers provide support to children & teenagers who come to the shelter with their mothers...many of whom have witnessed violence in the home. Our Association is two-part. We offer Home Support Services and activities for Seniors who want to live independently in their own homes. Our Board of Directors is made up of 22 Senior Citizens who are dedicated to enhancing the quality of life of the elderly. We support seniors by offering a wide variety of Home Support services including Meals On Wheels, Telephone Assurance, Diners' Club, Transportation, Frozen Meals, Home Maintenance, help with their Income Tax, and Information and Referral. Believing that the more active an individual is the healthier they will be, we offer many social and educational activities. These include Bridge, Bowling, Euchre, Golf, Painting, Shuffleboard, Tai Chi, Walking, Bus trips, Craft Workshops and Ceramics. All of these activities are coordinated by volunteers. In fact, we have 200+ volunteers that are the heart of our Association and are what make our Services and Activities so successful.

Seniors’ Outreach Services Society was incorporated under the BC Societies Act March 1989, and is also a federally registered charity. We work to improve the health, well being and independence of local seniors, to bring hope, resist ageism, and to prevent abuse neglect and self neglect. Services and programs include Information and Referral Program, Volunteer Programs (Friendly Visitors, Computer Mentors, Event Hosts/Hostesses, Volunteer Income Tax Program, Handyman), Coffee Break (social group and speaker series, Regional Housing Program (including Housing Directory(online), Information Sessions and Social Work Outreach Elderguide (print and online resource directory), Eldernet (computer and technology skills training)

The Sexual Assault Centre of Edmonton is launching a fundraising campaign to better serve the city's growing number of sexual assault survivors. We currently provide individual and group counselling services to child and adult survivors of sexual abuse and sexual assault at no cost to clients. We also do community outreach and education, staff a 24 hour crisis line and provide specialized treatment services for new Canadians who have experienced war rape in their country of origin. The online campaign asks for donations in exchange for sending a “candle of hope” to a friend. We appreciate your support. Light a candle in the darkness. Dare to be aware.

The Sexual Assault Support Centre is a non-profit, charitable organization that offers service to women who have experienced sexual violence. This could include childhood sexual abuse, adult sexual assault, sexual harassment, etc. We offer a 24-hour support line, support groups, individual support, legal advocacy, accompaniment to court, hospital and police, information, public education and specialized programs for young women, immigrant and refugee women and women who have experienced ritual/cult abuse.

At Shalom Counselling Services we provide a safe, welcoming and non-judgemental environment for conversation and problem-solving. Our experienced, accredited counsellors support individuals, couples, families and groups from youth to adult as they work through emotional and relationship concerns. Whether you need just a few sessions or more intensive counselling, we provide assessment, treatment, consultation and referrals. As a faith-based agency we honour and respect the diversity of persons, backgrounds and beliefs within our community. As Christian professionals, Shalom counsellors are receptive to conversations of faith and spirituality when initiated by the client in the counselling process. The Shuswap Association for Community Living (SACL) has been providing services and support for people with intellectual disabilities and their families for 50 years. Persons supported through the agency have access to Community Services (Outreach, Host Agency, Community Volunteer Placement and Recreation/Health and Wellness) and Employment Services to support them in job development, job supports and job site training. All programs promote inclusion, participation, and seek to foster a sense of personal enrichment.

Sign language opens the world to the Deaf Communication is the cornerstone of all human relationships. Silent Voice Canada is a community organization, founded in 1975, serving Deaf children, youth, adults and their families in American Sign Language (ASL), with programs that focus on communication. Silent Voice is the only organization in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA) offering community and family-based support to Deaf children and adults in ASL - through social-recreational programs for Deaf children and their hearing brothers and sisters, and an in-home ASL teaching program for families. Also, in partnership with other organizations, we provide special assistance and outreach services to socially and economically disadvantaged Deaf adults living in the community. Communicating with ASL empowers a Deaf child and adult, opening up a world they had never imagined.
