We accept requests for shelter at all times. We offer counselling and support as well as follow-up services for each resident. Thanks to our telephone support services and outreach program, we also provide assistance to women who do not require shelter. Our personnel speak English, French and Spanish; in addition, interpreters are called in whenever needed. Each month 40,000 Nova Scotians face the harsh realities of hunger - children, adults, seniors. FEED NOVA SCOTIA helps feed hungry people by collecting and distributing food to 153 member agency food banks and meal programs in Nova Scotia, and strives to eliminate hunger and poverty through research, awareness and support programs. Rather than allocating funds to individual agencies donations are used as follows: Feeding hungry people: We distribute food to our member agencies using a fair share system so people across the province have access to food in times of need. Each year we sort and distribute almost 2 million kilograms of food that comes to us from a variety of sources. Eliminating hunger and poverty: Through statistics and stories, we provide a clear picture of hunger and poverty in Nova Scotia and encourage others to join the call for change. We offer programs that support people experiencing food insecurity and help provide a chance for a new start.

The Bonnechere Manor Foundation is a registered charity made up of a group of volunteers dedicated to raising funds to enrich the quality of life for all residents and clients at the Bonnechere Manor. Whether it is an Auditorium, state-of-the-art equipment, or programs to enrich the residents' quality of life, the Foundation is dedicated to making Bonnechere Manor truly a home-away-from-home. The Foundation is also a vehicle to raise funds that support capital projects and other programs that are not funded through existing Ministry of Health and Long Term Care mechanisms.

Chartered in 1953, Simcoe and District Humane Society volunteers have helped animals in and around Norfolk County. SDHS is a non-profit, charitable organization relying on fundraising activities and donations from members of community. Volunteers look after every aspect of the Society including daily operations and working hands on with the animals from intake to adoption. Foster homes are a great asset to the Society as the organization prepares to raise funds for a much needed building.

ASBC was started in 1975 and is a parent based and directed society providing support to individuals with autism and their families in British Columbia and Yukon. ASBC Provides Support Through: Information, Referral and self-help Advocacy for Adults, Parents and Professionals; an extensive lending resource library, Internet access to valuable free on-demand information and discussion forums; a network of Community Groups throughout BC, facilitated by volunteers; seminars & conference opportunities for members; promoting community education and awareness. As well, ASBC Assists Families Financially Through: a limited reimbursement program for your child's summer activities; participation in FREE activities for families, eg: sports games, PNE outtings, movie outtings, opera, symphony for children, live theatre, rock concerts and Christmas activities. Community Living Newmarket/Aurora District provides supports and services to people who have an intellectual disability including residential supports, employment supports, day programs, family support, respite and leisure support.

Bissell Centre takes a holistic approach to addressing the root issues surrounding poverty and homelessness. Our programs and services are hinged on the principle that building respectful, trusting relationships helps deal with the core issues of a person in poverty. Bissell engages with our community members to learn who they are, what their unique barriers are and provide the resources necessary to emerge out of poverty and reconnect with their hope. Programs work with one another to address the many daily and long-term issues such as hunger, education, employment, safety, housing and mental health. Scarborough Women's Centre provides information, education and support to women in transition away from abuse, isolation and poverty, towards economic and emotional independence. The Centre was recognized with the City of Toronto Mayor's Community Safety Award for its work with abused women and their children. Women from many different backgrounds, enrich each other through their experiences. Here are some examples of what your donation can do: $50 - one woman builds her self confidence through an 8 week group $150 - 12 women learn to improve their health through a special workshop $200 -two volunteers train as mentors with women in transition $500.00 – one woman supported to achieve her goal to leave abuse through 3 months of counselling $1,000 - 20 women develop personal strategies for success through an 8 week course The Centre raises 1/2 of its income from fundraising activities.
