KERRY'S PLACE AUTISM SERVICES

Provided with the necessary supports and the development of communication and life skills and integration into the community, school and in the workplace. The residential programs operated by Kerry’s Place Autism Services offer safe and practical living arrangements within various communities in Southern Ontario. Community Outreach services are more specific to the needs of the respective communities that they serve. Depending upon the Ministry mandate for the specific region, the community outreach program may serve both children and adults or only children and adolescents until the age of 18 years. Overall, the Community Outreach programs provide support and consultation to individuals with autism and their families. This service may take the form of behaviour management, family resource days, workshops and parent counseling. Respite support is provided to families in need through community outreach. These arrangements can be offered in residence or in the community.

KNOX UNITED CHURCH

The heart of Winnipeg’s newcomer community is Central Park. And the heart of Central Park is Knox Church. Knox has been an integral part of the revitalization of the neighbourhood and the restoration of the park itself, through initiatives such as Central Market for Global Families and the Rainbow Community Garden. Now we are pleased to announce the creation of a new, 24-hour accessible commercial kitchen, which, when completed, will be available for community members to use to develop and expand on catering opportunities that might otherwise be cost prohibitive. Additional programs will include nutrition and cooking classes for women, men and youth, and cultural dinners. To date we have raised over $350,000 through generous grants from:The WPG Foundation,CPP(Province of MB),The City of WPG, CentreVenture, Blannerhassett Foundation and MB Community Services Council. But we are not quite at our goal! Another $50,000 will allow us to complete this valuable commercial kitchen.

L'ARCHE ASSOCIATION OF EDMONTON

Adults with disabilities are the foundation of our community. It is through their inspiration that we follow our commitment to those with disabilities and strive to provide ever more opportunities for their continued growth and security. Developmental disabilities include autism, Down’s syndrome, fetal alcohol spectrum disorder and others. L’Arche makes a lifetime commitment to accompany all community members with developmental disabilities throughout their lives. This lifetime commitment ensures that the L’Arche community remains a unique example of inclusiveness and belonging where the dignity of all people is affirmed and celebrated. The L’Arche community’s approach to inclusive living is tantamount to the family dynamic where each L’Arche house is a home and each member of the family (persons with and without developmental disabilities) is nurtured to fulfill his or her own potential.

LETHBRIDGE FAMILY SERVICES

We believe that the family more than any other institution shapes the personality and character of every person. We believe that the nature of life in society is, in a large part, determined by the quality of family life. We are committed to assisting individuals and family units to improve their functioning at home, at work and in the community. As an organization, we meet this philosophy by providing four distinct programming areas: Home Services, Immigrant Services, COE (counseling, outreach, education), and our Dacapo program (people with developmental disabilities). Programs include home care, settlement, interpretation, employment, counseling, education, culture, and recreation opportunities for our clients.
