Our programs provide children and adolescents who live with diabetes each and every day with the survival tools they need to achieve success in all areas of their lives and to maintain good health in the years to come. With our help, these children can grow to adulthood with greater awareness of the importance of proper management of their diabetes, greater confidence and self-esteem and the ability to live as healthy and productive adults. Empowering Youth in Transition to Persevere and Thrive Diabetes Hope Foundation provides financial assistance, encouragement and support at crucial points of transition in the lives of these children. Working closely with medical and health professionals specializing in youth and diabetes across Ontario, Diabetes Hope Foundation continues to respond to the changing needs of these youth by providing programs and support when and where they need it most. .

Our trained volunteers and professional staff provide practical care and support to individuals and their families dealing with life-threatening illness in their own homes. Care plans are flexible and designed for each family -- may include such services as respite care, caregiver support and emotional support. The Living Room Program is offered one day each week to provide respite for families and life affirming activities for clients. One to one grief counselling and support groups for kids, teens and adults enhance bereavement follow-up offered to families served by Evergreen as well as the general public. Bereavement resource mailings are also available on a monthly basis. A resource library is available at the Evergreen office. Services are offered at no charge to the client, but government funding provides only a small portion of our budget.

BC Children's Hospital Foundation raises money to support excellence and innovation in care, treatment and research and BC Children's Hospital, Sunny Hill Health Centre for Children and the Child & Family Research Institute. The Foundation's activities include major gift fundraising, planned giving and a wide variety of annual programs. As steward of philanthropic donations to Children's Hospital, Sunny Hill Health Centre and the Child & Family Research Institute, the Foundation issues charitable receipts and ensures donations are allocated to the areas to which donors have designated their support. The Foundation is currently engaged in the $200-million Campaign for BC Children to build a new children's hospital and ensure all BC children have access to a consistent standard of pediatric care.

Our two major programs provide hope for the future through the support of MS research into the cause, treatment and cure of the disease and hope for today through our many services that assist people with MS and their families. Since our founding in 1948, the core support of the MS Society has been from tens of thousands of dedicated individuals, companies and foundations in communities across Canada. The Society receives almost no funding from government.

Lakeridge Health invests in equipment to pinpoint and treat health problems quickly and accurately to meet the healthcare needs of Durham Region families. Our medical professionals deliver the quality health care our families have come to expect by using the latest technology. Lakeridge Health is always in need of new equipment and depends entirely on community support to get it. Not many people know that the Provincial Government covers only operating costs of hospitals but does not fund the purchase of equipment. This is why donations from the community are so important. By investing in new technology used in patient care, your contributions go a long way in helping our families, neighbours and friends continue to get the best healthcare possible. The CPFQ Child Sponsorship Program is designed to build bridges between the Canadian community and Palestinian children living under occupation or in refugee camps. Children enrolled in our program live under conditions of extreme poverty and unemployment. Many of them live in densely populated refugee camps. A suitable infrastructure is absent, seriously threatening the physical and mental health of residents. Many children suffer from serious health problems and disabilities. Due to financial hardship, many have to leave school at a very young age to help support their families. The severe restrictions on employment and movement make the future of these children very bleak. In addition to providing much needed financial assistance, the program helps maintain stable and rewarding relationships between each child and their sponsor. This simple message of hope can offset some of the effects of the chaotic and insecure conditions in which they live.

In addition to this traditional funding role Orillia Soldiers' Memorial Hospital Foundation will promote community awareness and education, foster volunteerism and participation in the health of our community. Cassie and Friends was established in 2007 in Vancouver by parents, David Porte and Debbie Setton, along with five other families all affected by Juvenile Arthritis. Cassie was 18-months old when she woke up one morning unable to walk. Soon after, she was diagnosed with Juvenile Idopathic Arthritis. Dealing with the devastating news of his daughter's condition, David was inspired to raise funds for juvenile arthritis by running in the Scotiabank Charity Challenge 5km. He raised over $25,000 in the first year. Since then, through the genrousity of many individuals, families and corporations, Cassie and Friends has raised over $450,000 in support of world-leading research, educational programming, child and family support services and much-needed medical equipment for Juvenile Arthritis sufferers. We look forward to growing our support of the kids and families who suffer daily from this painful disease - and ultimately improving their quality of life and expected outcomes.

The North Shore Stroke Recovery Centre (NSSRC) was initially founded in 1974 by a group of six stroke survivors wishing to meet and support one another post stroke. Since that time the NSSRC has become the main service provider of post hospital stroke recovery and community re-integration services for individuals and caregivers living with stroke. We offer a peer-and volunteer-supported group atmosphere with access to speech therapy, music therapy, exercise therapy and much more. The organization serves the communities of North and West Vancouver, with over two hundred local residents supported annually.

Wellspring is open to all cancer patients, their families and care givers, all of whom are known as members. Wellspring is welcoming and comfortable in nature, external to hospitals or treatment centres, and is devoid of any “institutional” feeling. Volunteers and group leaders providing programs at Wellspring deliver only cancer support services and not medical treatment or medical therapies, nor services for patients with diseases other than cancer. Wellspring receives no government funding and offers all programs and services at no charge to our members and without referral.

The Hospital for Sick Children Foundation, affectionately known as SickKids Foundation, is the largest non-governmental granting agency in child health in Canada. Established in 1972, SickKids Foundation has granted over $300 million to The Hospital for Sick Children and over $60 million to researchers across the country. Through its National Grants Program, SickKids Foundation is the only granting program with a national, multi-year initiative to study two understudied but important areas of child health: the role of complementary and alternative health care and child health, and to study home care and children and youth. We have invested our community’s contributions in outstanding patient care, research and education. We believe there is no one else in Canada as dedicated as we are to eliminating the gap between what is happening in child health research, education and training, and what should be happening.

From modest beginnings almost 100 years ago, Wood’s Homes has grown into a multi-service agency helping Canada's most troubled young people. Programs are now located in Calgary, Strathmore, Lethbridge, Canmore, Ft. McMurray, and Ft. Smith. NWT. We are a nationally accredited, non-profit organization that serves 20,000 troubled young people & their families from across Canada every year. We operate over 30 programs & services including: 24/7 intensive residential treatment, in-home family support, crisis intervention, community outreach, foster care, addiction/substance abuse treatment, no-fee, walk-in counselling.
