Step Up

Step Up is a registered, community-based non-profit organization in Malawi committed to improving the health, dignity, and inclusion of children and youths with disabilities. Our mission is to ensure that every child, regardless of their physical or developmental condition, has the opportunity to live a full, independent, and joyful life. Malawi faces a severe shortage of rehabilitation services, with fewer than 40 public physiotherapy clinics serving over 20 million people. This shortage leaves countless children with disabilities without access to essential support. Founded in 2019 and formally registered in 2021, Step Up was created in response to this urgent gap in care. We focus especially on reaching children in low-income, high-need communities like Ndirande Township in Blantyre, where public services are extremely limited. Step Up delivers core community-based rehabilitation (CBR) services that include physiotherapy, occupational therapy, caregiver training, psychosocial support, and inclusive early childhood development. We run a free physiotherapy and rehabilitation center in Ndirande, currently serving over 40 children and youths with disabilities. Our team includes volunteer physiotherapists, an occupational therapist, and a social worker. All of us share a commitment to working closely with families and caregivers - because we believe that sustainable impact starts at the community level. But our mission goes beyond therapy. We are passionate about advocacy, inclusion, and rights. Our work seeks to break the stigma surrounding disability and to build a society that not only supports but embraces diversity. We raise awareness about disability rights, promote access to education, and empower parents - especially mothers of children with disabilities - with knowledge, confidence, and tools to support their children. In the long term, Step Up is working to create a network of free rehabilitation centers in underserved rural and urban areas across Malawi. Our vision is to be a national model of inclusive, grassroots healthcare - ensuring that no child with a disability is left behind due to poverty, geography, or stigma. At its core, Step Up's mission is about giving children with disabilities the chance to live and enjoy life like any other child. We are building a world where their potential is not only recognized but fully supported - where inclusion is not a favor, but a right.

TheBoardroom Africa Foundation

Good governance ensures accountability, fairness, and transparency throughout our social, governmental, and business systems. On the African continent, women are underrepresented at every level in the workplace, especially in senior leadership roles. According to the UN, this type of unequal treatment of women in the workplace has cost Sub-Saharan Africa approximately $105bn and has significant implications on the utilization of the continents full human capital potential and achievement of its development goals. The Boardroom Africa was borne out of these realities. We champion female leadership on a pan-African level by building a network of women leaders who collectively dispel the myth that there aren't enough qualified women to support the growth of the continent. We help build role models at the top to change the way organizations are led through our educational content. We offer a board training program for women across the continent and to date, we've trained 64+ women. We also have built a community of over 1,000 women on the continent leading change and deliver open webinars, trainings, and meetups to upskill this network. Finally, we've conducted publicly released research on 13 African countries to assess the gender gap in their companies. We want to shift the demand by ensuring society realizes the benefits of increased female participation in leadership, and create an ecosystem of women who can go into the world and inspire others.

The World Transplant Games Federation

Every day, lives are changed by a single, selfless act - the gift of organ donation. Among those waiting for transplants are 2 groups of people: those who die waiting and those who receive the gift of life. Our work raises awareness of the urgent need for organ and tissue donors while helping recipients who have overcome the impossible to live life to the fullest. These individuals have faced life's greatest challenges; they are advocates for the cause but need resources, education and community. Transplant recipients have a unique opportunity to advocate for organ donation and raise awareness. Physical activity plays a crucial role in the recovery and long-term health of recipients. When recipients compete in world events, they demonstrate to the world what can be achieved through the gift of organ donation. Additionally, our programs provide recipients with community, tools, and resources to address the many challenges they face, leading to an increased quality of life. The WTGF promotes amateur sport amongst recipients, living donors and donor families; promoting the study of transplantation; educating the public and raising awareness of the world shortage of donor organs; sharing new knowledge from biological/clinical studies; promotion of mental and moral improvement for recipients, living donors and donor families; fostering international friendship and relations.

The Greenpop Foundation

OUR MISSION We're on a mission to drive tangible environmental restoration and inspire collective action for a thriving planet. Our work is diverse. We provide technical and financial support for reforestation and urban greening projects. We craft creative eco-education curriculums and awareness campaigns. We run engaging nature-based events and experiences. From getting our hands dirty running local projects to consulting for global organisations, we turn ideas into impact. Greenpop was founded in 2010 and has since worked across Sub-Saharan Africa and empowered thousands of people around the world to get active (not anxious) about the future of our planet. Optimistic Environmentalism - Our Guiding Philosophy: At Greenpop, we believe in tackling environmental challenges with a mindset of hope, creativity, and tangible impact. Our work is deeply rooted in the powerful theoretical framework of Optimistic Environmentalism. This philosophy isn't just an idea; it guides every project, every partnership, and every decision we make, shaping how we contribute to a thriving planet. We interpret this framework through four primary stances: Pro-Nature We champion the conservation and restoration of nature because it holds inherent value and is absolutely essential for a habitable planet. Our projects are designed to heal and enhance ecosystems, recognising nature's vital role in our collective well-being and the balance of life on Earth. Pro-People We are committed to ensuring equality of access to nature and its benefits for all people, both today and for future generations. Creating a just world means prioritising communities, empowering diverse voices, and ensuring environmental solutions genuinely uplift and benefit everyone, especially marginalised groups. Pro-Innovation We embrace creativity, new technology, and innovative design as crucial tools for solving complex environmental challenges. We constantly seek smarter, more effective ways to make a lasting positive impact, fostering a culture of continuous learning, adaptation, and bold thinking. Pro-Action We believe that swift, meaningful environmental action is essential, not just in policy or grand initiatives, but in every sphere - personal, economic, and legislative. We activate individuals and communities to become active participants, turning concern into tangible positive change and inspiring widespread joyful engagement. These four stances form the bedrock of Greenpop's approach, demonstrating our belief that a sustainable future is not only possible but achievable through an empowered, connected, and proactive humanity. It's the philosophy that fuels our mission to drive tangible environmental restoration and inspire collective action for a thriving planet.
