Founded in 1913, Lydia Patterson Institute is the only remaining United Methodist institution in the United States that serves a predominately Hispanic population. Lydia Patterson Institute continues to serve as a church-related and church-supported institution because of its mission to serve a special human need in an environment where faith and knowledge interact to enrich our lives and develop Christian leadership for church and society. College Oak Montessori School is a preschool serving children ages 2- 6 in the Montessori tradition through their kindergarten year.

To prepare its students for admission to and success in college the school offers a rigorous curriculum that meets the university of California a-g requirements, with an emphasis on basic skills and core subject matter in English language arts, mathematics, social studies and science, and a comprehensive support program that promotes healthy youth development, including preparing the students to apply their knowledge and skills for the benefit of the community and environment.

Beechwood is a private independent school community of 170 students, 30 staff members, and over 100 families. The school includes one class per grade from Kinder Prep through Eighth Grade.
