John Brown University was founded in 1919 by entrepreneur and evangelist, John E. Brown. Brown's college offered Christian higher education to students who could not afford to go to college elsewhere. It was also the Founder's contention that education must offer academic excellence, spiritual commitment and professional training to be effective. Thus, the school's motto is "Head, Heart, and Hand." Today the university enrolls over 2,100 students, is faithful to its Christian heritage, and is proud of its multi-cultural campus that boasts students from over 44 nations.
