At Life Skills we aim at helping the youth (10-18 year-olds) in Amsterdam South-East in the development of life skills, self-love, confidence and citizenship education. So that they have the tools to succeed in society and are able to take control of their lives for a sustainable and healthy future. We work on this by providing workshops and training, fieldtrips and homework and study guidence/counseling. Every child has the right to fair education en development. However, we know that there is also inequality in education. This is especially the case in neighborhoods where social, cultural and economic capital is minimal, such as Amsterdam South-East. In order to offer students from disadvantaged neighborhoods equal opportunities, extra education is being used, under the heading of tutoring or homework guidance. But there's more to it. The children that come to Life Skills grow up in a non-Western environment. An environment that often does not match the norms and values of Western society. When they finish their education and manifest themselves in society, there will be a cultural gap. What is missing are the skills and knowledge about the ins and outs of Western culture and Dutch society. They would end up in a culture shock, with mutual incomprehension and uncertainty. At Life Skills we want to help fill in this gap so that the youth from Amsterdam South-East as all the Life Skills it needs to succeed in life. Review "I found learning for my own good very difficult, but suddenly I was able to do my very best when helping others. In the end I also obtained my high school diploma. I have now been working at the Study House for three years and have been a student there for six years. I really enjoy working here and guiding other students in their schoolwork. I know that what is a small effort for me can mean a lot to the student. I also get a lot of energy from it and it still gives me self-confidence. Working at the Study House has made me realize that I really enjoy helping others. If it is up to me, I would like to continue working at the Study House for years to come!", Rabdaah Rehman. Founded in 2018, the ITTF Foundation was created by the International Table Tennis Federation as an independent nonprofit organization. The Foundation aims to create positive impacts through table tennis in communities worldwide. The ITTF Foundation operates through five programs to foster development through table tennis, contributing to the UN Sustainable Development Goals. The team tirelessly designs and implements initiatives that promote inclusivity, education, and empowerment, ensuring that the sport becomes a catalyst for positive social change. As a nonprofit organization we collaborate closely with local project implementation partners while we assist with planning, financial support, and knowledge sharing. Additionally, we connect with the Parkinson's community globally to promote the use of table tennis for enhancing well-being and health, particularly against neurodegenerative diseases.
The organisation reflects its members' shared concern for the future of humanity and the planet. The association sees its task as acting as an independent, global catalyst for change. The objectives of the Association are therefore: to identify the key issues that are critical to the future of humanity; to evaluate alternative scenarios for the future and assess risks, choices and opportunities through integrated and forward-looking analyses; to develop and propose practical solutions to the identified challenges; to communicate new insights and knowledge from these analyses to decision-makers in the public and private sectors, as well as to the wider public; to stimulate public debate and effective action to improve the prospects for the future of humanity and the planet. The Association's activities are guided by the following three complementary principles: 1. the need to adopt a global, systems-oriented perspective in analysing the problems facing the modern world, recognising that the increasing interdependence of nations and the globalisation of previously local problems create challenges that are beyond the capacity of individual countries. 2. the need for a comprehensive, holistic approach in order to gain a deeper understanding of the complexity and interconnectedness of both current problems and practical solutions, in political, social, economic, technological, environmental, psychological and cultural terms, which the association refers to as the 'world problematique'. 3. the need to emphasise transdisciplinary and long-term perspectives, which are all too often neglected by governments and other decision-makers, and to focus on those decisions, strategies and measures that will determine the fate of present and future generations. The aim is to arouse public interest and provide responsible decision-makers with a solid basis for formulating and implementing future-oriented measures. The association does not pursue any commercial purposes and does not seek to make a profit.
The People for People brand aims to build a collective of decisive people who have founded or work at companies that care. From ESG managers to CEOs, these individuals are solution-minded, capable of making fast decisions, and focused on implementing impact at scale. When a large-scale crisis occurs and people are forced to flee their homes, they feel the responsibility to act. They are not experts in medical aid, construction or military operations - but they can tap into their businesses to deliver much-needed supplies, services and infrastructure quickly. When people are suddenly forced from home due to large-scale disasters, we call on our collective responsibility to help as many people as possible as quickly as possible - regardless of their nationality or background. We focus our eorts on the people that might otherwise be missed or fall behind. We pay special attention to young people and their families, directly asking them about their needs. United in our eorts, we aim to bring back humanity in crisis response.
Foundation Asian Raisins has been one of the leading organizations in combating racism against East and Southeast Asian people in the Netherlands since March 2020. We do this together with volunteers through three program themes: Storytelling, Action, and Community. Our Programs 1) Showcasing the diversity within East and Southeast Asian communities in the Netherlands. 2) Preventing, identifying, and taking action against racist incidents. 3) Creating a space where people from these communities can come together. With the goal of achieving an equal, representative, inclusive, and ultimately racism-free Netherlands. Our mission Asian Raisins fights racism against people of East- and Southeast Asian descent in the Netherlands. Our vission We fight for a country in which East and Southeast Asian people can recognise themselves as worthy human beings in every facet of society; not as a stereotype, second class citizen or laughingstock. In this country, East and Southeast Asian people could go outside without fear of being called names by strangers and racist comments would not be normalised as a joke. Everyone of East and Southeast Asian descent should be able to be proud of their roots, appearance and culture. In order to achieve these aspirations, an intersectional change of the system is required: in the media, politics, education and eventually society. Because no one else is doing it, we take matters into our own hands. We open the dialogue with governments, organisations and influential individuals. We take the streets to protest. We conduct awareness campaigns and rap racist parties over the knuckles. We will not wait any longer and claim our rightful place in The Netherlands ourselves. And you?

EHEES, Elephant Haven, European elephant sanctuary, is a sanctuary/retirement home for elephants from European zoos and circuses, which answers a legal need and requests from private owners. EHEES is a care center which offers the elephants a place for life and where their natural needs are respected and their diet is appropriate. It enables them to be re-socialized and rehabilitated in a protected environment. This is the true story of Gandhi and Delhi, Asian elephants, our two first retired residents in EHEES, the only elephant sanctuary in Europe. Indeed, in recent years, it has become both appropriate and necessary to create elephant placement centers in Europe. Private elephant owners, animal parks, zoos and other organizations may need a place for their elephant(s) to live. Almost all European countries ban wild animals from circuses, including France, where EHEES is situated. Bringing them back to their country of origin is not always possible. There was no place for housing the elephants in Europe. Retired elephants from zoos and circuses, like Gandhi and Delhi, our 2 first residents, have now a place for life. They, and the future other residents of Elephant Haven, need a lot of attention. Elephant Haven is expanding to be able to offer more elephants a place for life. Informative programmes about elephants and their behavior, in captivity and in the wild, will be organized to have a better understanding of elephants, as well as local fauna and flora. All this encourages a re-connection with nature and with all her creatures, to raise awareness and respect for the environment.
