Monica Esteban, the founder, in 2010 gave a Play Station to a boy who was going through a chemotherapy treatment in hospital and, immediately, she was able to observe how the little boy cheered up and faced his illness with a smile. Since then, we've been able to witness on a daily basis how playing games provide tremendous benefits for hospitalized children. Being away from home, away from their family and in an unknown environment, the hospital experience intimidates them. This is when video games, the tablet and the possibility of playing in a garden without leaving the hospital become a fundamental tool to connect with the world and make them forget where they are, at least while the game lasts.

The Initiatives Solidaries association began to take shape around 1992 at the initiative of a group of people who were aware of the situation of exclusion of disadvantaged young people and people in a situation of deprivation of liberty in the city of Valencia. These people, involved in different socio-educational projects of the Domus Pacis Association, created Iniciatives Solidaries in July 1993, a non-profit, independent association, with its own legal personality and full capacity to act, administer, dispose of its assets and give a comprehensive response to the problems of the aforementioned group. Based on a common philosophical and methodological affinity, we began with an objective, to prevent situations of social exclusion with minors, young people, prisoners and former prisoners while raising awareness in society about this problem and involving it in change through awareness and volunteering. Since the beginning of its journey, there have been many people who have passed through the entity, many difficulties and needs that have been overcome and many hopes for which it continues to work in favor of prevention, integration of the most disadvantaged and in favor of solidarity. Throughout this time, projects have been consolidated, intervention pathways developed and adapted, networks and collaboration forums expanded; Work has been done for the solidarity of citizens with the most disadvantaged and new channels of social participation have been opened. We managed to be declared a Public Utility Entity in 2009 (NAL 125077). Step by step, programs, work formulas, specialized care, centers, agreements and collaborations have been strengthened. At Initiatives Solidaries we are a non-profit association regulated by LO 1/2002 of March 22, accredited as a Second Chance School of Valencia that has carried out our work since 1993 with the aim of contributing to the social well-being of the community by preventing situations of social exclusion in especially disadvantaged sectors: adolescents, young people at risk of social exclusion and people who are or have been deprived of liberty. To achieve this, we intervene from comprehensive training, developing individualized educational, training and socio-labor insertion itineraries taking into account their needs and difficulties, and which affect the lines of protection of minors, basic education, vocational training, personal and interpersonal competence, information, participation. community, advice and socio-labor guidance through the Second Chance Schools model, pioneering and legitimized, closely linked to the business sector, recognized and supported by public institutions. The scope and extension of Initiatives Solidares is national, developing our actions mainly in the Valencian Community. The entity has three centers that are located in the city of Valencia, in the neighborhoods of Torrefiel, Benimamet and Tres Forques, and two inside the Valencia Penitentiary Center, located in the town of Picassent. In addition, we have a large multidisciplinary team, made up of professionals from the social and volunteer fields, working in networks with different entities and organizations in the social, labor and educational fields to achieve our goals. Initiatives Solidaries aims to: Promote the Social Well-being of the Community, through educational, training, guidance and counseling actions, aimed at the culturally, socially and economically disadvantaged population: childhood, adolescence, youth, families, women, migrants, long-term unemployed people, prisoners and ex-prisoners who are in a situation of social exclusion. Facilitate the social and/or labor insertion of the most culturally, socially and economically disadvantaged population: childhood, adolescence, youth, families, long-term unemployed people, prisoners and former prisoners who are in a situation of social exclusion. Promote volunteering and citizen participation among professionals and the general population through training and awareness actions and in the business community through agreements, conventions, collaborations and/or specific actions or within the framework of corporate social responsibility (CSR). . Fundacion Mozambique Sur is a development NGO created in 2005 by a group of Spanish professionals, whose mission is to accompany 35,000 rural people in southern Mozambique in a process of transformation to eradicate poverty.

Founded in 2018, the ITTF Foundation was created by the International Table Tennis Federation as an independent nonprofit organization. The goal of scientific research is to conserve aquatic ecosystems, centring both on the species the Oceanografic houses and wild species and ecosystems, with a special emphasis on those classified under any threatened or endangered category that requires greater knowledge for their recovery and protection. Research programmes: 1. Physiology of Marine Vertebrates Studying the adaptations of the respiratory and cardiovascular systems of pulmonate (with lungs) marine vertebrates that let them dive to extreme depths for extended immersion periods. 2. Marine Health Evaluating the causes of mortality and states of health of the wild populations of different marine species in the Mediterranean through the Beaching Network of the Comunitat Valenciana, made up of the Government of Valencia's Regional Ministry of Environment, Water, Infrastructures and Territory, the Universitat de Valencia and the Fundacion Oceanografic. 3. Conservation based research The application of methodologies that enables the exploration of remote ecosystems, monitoring the populations, and compiling information on their behaviour, health status, and physiology of species in the natural environment. 4. Animal Well-being Nourishing and advancing in the Oceanografic's animal well-being strategy and developing innovative tools that allow for monitoring their well-being in nature. 5. Biodiversity and Society Evaluating the positive impact produced by visiting the Oceanografic and participating in educational activities. Conservation programmes: 1. Marine Animal Recovery Centre (ARCA del Mar) Caring for sick or injured marine animals represents one of the main direct-action programmes. The goal is to rescue and recover species and strengthen visitors' connection to them through visits, workshops and courses with the recovering animals that will later be released into the sea. The recovery centre primarily attends to marine animals such as cetaceans, sharks, rays and sea turtles, although other species like coral and seahorses are also included within the recovery programme. 2. Reintroduction and reinforcement Controlled breeding seeks to increase both the number of individuals in declining populations and the survival of new generations after hatching, keeping the babies during their initial stages of life and reintroducing them once they have grown to a size that favours their survival in the wild. This programme centres its efforts on species of populations that are extremely vulnerable, and also contributes knowledge on the development of species during their earliest stages of life. 3. Controlled breeding of local endangered species. Strengthening the wild populations that are extremely vulnerable through the breeding and/or maintenance of the babies during their first months of life to ensure their survival and reintroduce them into the wild environment. 4. Surveillance, monitoring and restoration The different ecosystem and particular areas of interest are evaluated to establish their conservation status to be able to apply the measures required to restore their original balance. 5. Training of professionals and knowledge transmission Knowledge is shared nationally with entities such as the Ministry of Ecological Transition and internationally, collaborating closely with conservation teams in countries such as Pakistan, Colombia, India, and Thailand. Additionally, collaboration is carried out in the creation of stranding networks and recovery centers in places like the Galapagos Islands and Cabo Verde, offering advice and logistical support to strengthen conservation programs. 6. United Way Spain seeks to improve lives of the most vulnerable by mobilizing the caring power of Spanish communities to advance the common good. We work mainly, but not only, in three areas. HEALTH, EDUCATION and EMPLOYABILITY (the basis of economic stability) are the three main indicators of human progress according to the UN and the three areas on which our activity is focused. In Spain there are problems which giving a solution in the present will be crucial to build a better future for everyone. These problems often stem from a precarious social cohesion that has very specific faces. We combat local problems: Energy poverty, child obesity, the loneliness of the elderly, the inequalities caused by climate change, school dropout rates (of which Spain and Italy are at the forefront in Europe), the lack of references for young people, the digital divide, gender inequality, barriers to accessing the labor market The issues we address are multiple and changing, each community has its specific difficulties. Joining forces is the most effective response to combat them. We provide specific solutions: United Way Spain develops social impact projects and connects those who can carry them out in each community. We design and coordinate solutions adapted to specific needs: food distribution, support for the elderly, promotion of healthy habits, school support, STEM education, access to employment, technological training, financial and environmental education, fundraising for urgent crises, support for families in paying for supplies, promotion of social involvement and a long etcetera.

Gasol Foundation works to reduce childhood obesity rates through the promotion of sports and physical activity, healthy eating, sleep quality, and the emotional well-being of children, adolescents and their families in the United States and Spain.

The Maecenata Foundation is an independent Think Tank founded in 2010 and based in Munich. It addresses issues of civil society, civic engagement, philanthropy, and foundations. Since 2011 it comprises all of Maecenata's activities. The foundation directs the activities of its programmes to represent carefully considered positions. It is heavily engaged in the transnational strengthening and development of an open society in Europe and beyond through civil society.
