The Parish of Saint John has played an important part in the community of Saint John since 1783; people have been gathered for public worship, knit together in friendship, and sent out to serve God and neighbour with a sense of purpose and calling. Our Parish Nursing and Outreach programs help continue this tradition of friendship and calling in the 21st century. On one side of the Church is the uptown business district; on the other a neighbourhood where many live in poverty, with many related challenges. Desire ‘to worship the Father in spirit and in truth’ draws us to the altar in worship and sends us out into the world. The role of Trinity’s Parish Nursing and Outreach programs is to build bridges: between altar and world, congregation and neighbourhood, men and women - all made in the image of God and loved deeply and everlastingly by God. Trinity members are involved in a wide variety of activities and initiatives that bring people together to eat, talk, sing, play and pray.
The “Musée de la mémoire vivante” is a modern institution with a participating concept. Permanent and temporary exhibitions are displayed. They are set up with the visitors’ contributions through testimonies and artifacts rather than being conceived and perceived as an end in itself. The exhibitions are meant to incite exchanges, discussions and testimonies, always with the purpose of putting the people and their experiences in the spotlight. At the museum, two studios are available to whoever desires to record his testimony or life experience. Those testimonies are kept for the same reason than objects are in a conventional museum. The different themes approached are in this way not forgotten, Those life experiences are available to anyone who desires to listen to them for learning, social reasons or leasure. It is a true democratization of life stories and experiences.
