The John Howard Society of Alberta is a non-profit agency concerned with the problem of crime and its prevention. The organization takes its name and spirit from the 18th century humanitarian John Howard, whose name has become a symbol of humane consideration for prisoners. It was incorporated in 1949, and today the organization consists of six separately incorporated districts along with the Provincial Office. We believe that crime control is as much the responsibility of the community as it is of government. Through involvement with the John Howard Society, as members or volunteers, people in the community play an active role in the criminal justice process by providing programs for offenders and their families, ex-offenders, young persons and the public.

The programs and services Gillian’s Place provides helps abused women and their children with the opportunity to rebuild their lives. These programs include support counselling and safety planning, family law advice, safe shelter and transitional assistance. Abused women who may never stay at our shelter still benefit from the free and confidential services we offer.

The London Food Bank was officially incorporated on January 1, 1987. It is a non-profit, charitable organization, governed by a community board of directors. There are two parts to its mandate: * To act as a front-line agency assisting those struggling to make ends meet * To act as a food warehouse and work with other agencies that assist people in need

Our services extend beyond simply providing food. Our programs are designed to build skills that help people move out of the cycle of poverty. We offer a full range of programs within our facility including: the provision of Emergency Food Assistance, the Food Co-operative program, Infant, Youth, Adult and Seniors Program and Employment Readiness Programs. Programs provided by outside agencies available at our facility include: Family Counselling Centre of Cambridge and North Dumfries; Waterloo Region Community Legal Services and ACCKWA.

Toronto Cat Rescue (TCR) is a network of foster homes and volunteers. We are often the last or only hope for a homeless, abandoned, sick or injured cat. Since 1994, TCR has been helping cats to escape situations of abuse, neglect, or euthanasia at a shelter. There are numerous stray cats in and around Toronto. Through a program of spaying/neutering, fostering and adoption, TCR works to reduce this number in a humane and compassionate manner.

The Sharing Place is a compassionate ministry of the Church of the Nazarene in the Junction neighbourhood of Toronto. We are open year-round on Thursday mornings and evenings, providing hot meals, groceries, clothing, counseling, friendship, and hope. We are an independent food and clothing bank that receives no government funding. Our support comes from individuals, businesses, and churches. We welcome your participation in this grace-driven ministry to the least, the lost, and the left-out.

Covenant House Vancouver offers 24-hour crisis shelter, a 6- 24 month supported living program, street outreach, life-skills training and a daily drop-in for homeless, runaway and street involved youth aged 16-24. Most of our kids have either fled physical, emotional and/or sexual abuse or have been “kicked out” of their homes. Covenant House supports kids exiting the streets while helping them heal from past traumas. We understand that life changes are challenging and do everything in our power to ensure that young people succeed at whatever plan they have chosen for themselves. As long as genuine effort is demonstrated, so is our commitment. .

The MLSE Team Up Foundation is the consolidation of the Raptors Foundation for Kids, Leafs Fund for Kids and the charitable efforts of Toronto FC and Toronto Marlies. Guelph Food Bank was established by Spiritwind Christian Centre in 1989. Food Bank clients vary in age, ethnic and socio-economic backgrounds, but they have one thing in common they are all faced with financial hardship. West Broadway Development Corporation operates a number of programs, however our main fundraising drive is for the Good Food Club (GFC). The GFC makes healthy, nutricious, affordable food available in West Broadway and inner-city Winnipeg. Help us create food security, so that all people, at all times, have access to safe, nutricious food to meet dietary needs for an active and healthy live. Our program is guided by the membership, primarily people living below the poverty line. Members can volunteer for "sweat equity points" and exchange these for healthy food. The Actors' Fund of Canada is a registered charity that provides short-term financial aid to entertainment industry professionals working in theatre, film & TV, music and dance. Performers, creators, technical staff and other production team members can apply for help from the Fund which delivered over $460,000 in rent payments, grocery money, utility payments and other basic living expenses to clients in the last 12 months and over $4.5 million in the last 10 years. The Actors' Fund receives no government funding and is wholly sustained by support from individuals and entertainment industry organizations.
