Ontario March of Dimes is one of the largest charitable rehabilitation organizations in Ontario, providing a wide range of services across the province to enhance the independence and community participation of people with physical disabilities. Our consumers include those who have cerebral palsy, spina bifida, muscular dystrophy, multiple sclerosis, Parkinson’s disease, post-polio syndrome, and people who have acquired their disability through injury, or have experienced a stroke. We help people find jobs, acquire wheelchairs and other assistive devices, provide recreation programs to those who are socially isolated, and so much more.
WDDS (Woodstock and District Developmental Services), a non-profit charitable organization, has been providing opportunities and supports for people with developmental disabilities in Oxford County since 1959. We offer a wide range of individualized supports and services through our Accommodation, Employment, Day, Youth and Family Support programs. WDDS believes that people with developmental disabilities should: •Be Treated with respect, dignity and equality; •Have opportunities for community participation and to develop relationships of their choice; •Receive quality supports to be as independent as possible and grow to their maximum potential. Through advocacy and public education WDDS will continue to strive for inclusion as we seek to play our part in achieving "a community where everybody belongs."
Since 1974, we have provided shelter and services for women, with or without children, who are experiencing abuse in intimate relationships. Programs include: 24-hour crisis line; shelter services; in-house children's programs; children who witness abuse program; stopping the violence counselling program; spousal assault victim support program; and, training and community education. On average, we provide emergency shelter and counselling to 275 women and 190 children accompany their mothers to our Shelter. The Boys and Girls Club of Ottawa (BGCO) has served the Ottawa community since 1923, reaching out to 4,500 children and youth each year through after-school, weekend and summer programs that build self-esteem and help to develop stronger social skills. We utilize an integrated model of age-appropriate social, recreational and academic activities that include proven strategies for building positive relationships, mentoring, conflict resolution, skill development and employment training. These programs are developed in collaboration with families, local schools and other community partners to create comprehensive healthy living opportunities for children and youth.
Girls Incorporated of York Region is a non-profit organization dedicated to the healthy development of girls and young women. We recognize the need for programming geared specifically to girls that address their special interests and strengths. The AIDS Network is a registered charitable organization that offers services and education to people living in the communities of Hamilton, Halton, Haldimand, Norfolk and Brant. Established in 1986, we are the only organization in the region that offers services and support to men, women, children and families who have been affected by HIV/AIDS.
