The Jacob Burns Film Center (JBFC) is a nonprofit cultural arts center dedicated to teaching literacy for a visual culture; presenting the best of independent, documentary, and world cinema; and making film a vibrant part of the community.
WCNI is an independent not-for-profit, listener-supported radio station whose FCC license is owned by Connecticut College Community Radio, Inc (CCCR). WCNI is maintained by our executive board which is comprised of members of community, including students at Connecticut College. Our all volunteer staff (the executive board and the DJ's) handle the day to day operations of the radio station. Because each DJ creates their own individual free-form show, WCNI is able to provide a broad range of non-commercial music programming - "from folk to funk, from polka to punk". We broadcast from New London, CT at 90.9 fm and stream globally at wcniradio.org.
THE ORGANIZATION'S PRIMARY ACCOMPLISHMENT IS TO PROVIDE AN INDEPENDENT LOCAL NEWS SOURCE WITHIN MONTCLAIR, NEW JERSEY TO OBJECTIVELY INFORM THE PUBLIC, PROMOTE CIVIC ENGAGEMENT AND HELP BUILD COMMUNICYT WITHIN ITS CIRCULATION AREA. THIS IS ACHIEVED THROUGH THE USE OF PROFESSIONAL JOURNALISTS TO RESEARCH AND PROVIDE NEWS AND LOCAL EVENT INFORMATION TO THE PUBLIC. FUNDING FOR THIS WORK IS PROVIDED BY THE SALES OF SUBSCRIPTIONS, CONTRIBUTIONS, AND SALES OF ADVERTISING SPACE IN THE ORGANIZATION'S PUBLICATIONS.
