Based in Berkshire County, Massachusetts, WAM Theatre is Where Arts and Activism Meet. The company was co-founded in 2010 by Canadian director, actor, educator, and producer Kristen van Ginhoven. WAM’s vision is to create opportunity for women and girls through the mission of theatre as philanthropy. Inspired by the book Half the Sky: Turning Oppression into Opportunity for Women Worldwide by Nicholas Kristof and Sheryl WuDunn, WAM donates a portion of the proceeds from its theatrical events to organizations that benefit women and girls. Since 2010, WAM Theatre has donated more than $30,000 to eleven nonprofit organizations and provided paid work to more than 200 theatre artists. In addition to the main stage productions and special events, WAM Theatre’s activities include a comprehensive educational outreach program and the Fresh Takes Play Reading Series.

The Symphony of the Potomac is a community-based, primarily volunteer orchestra in Montgomery County, Maryland, under the direction of Maestro Joel Lazar. The orchestra provides Montgomery County and the Greater Washington DC area with the opportunity to enjoy symphonic music at a reasonable price. We foster an appreciation of orchestral and other instrumental music and provide music education for both youth and adults. Our regular concert season takes place at the Cultural Arts Center in downtown Silver Spring, Maryland.

The musical organizations will be composed of amateur and professional musicians of the greater Danbury area and will be conducted by professional directors. Most performances will be free to the public.

The Civic Youth Orchestra makes the enriching experience of performing music using symphonic musical instruments available to children of any race, religion or ethnic origin, without regard to economic circumstances, in an environment that is positive and nurturing. The Civic Youth Orchestra provides performance opportunities to children throughout the community, in a variety of locations, involving various skill levels, enriching the overall educational experience with a stimulating performance preparation program that occurs outside of the school day. The Civic Youth Orchestra creates opportunities for young people to demonstrate their musical proficiency for receptive audiences and competition adjudicators, both at home and outside the community, instilling pride and receiving recognition, as well as promoting the image of Southern California as a place of culture, unusual achievement and excellence.
