We then train and socialize those dogs to become loving companions for trafficked, abused or disabled children and teens that have been saved and have recovered from a qualified rehabilitation program. Haven Humane Society is more than an animal shelter; we are a community-supported animal resource center providing compassion and care for all animals. Since 1952, Haven Humane has offered lifesaving programs and services for animals and the people who love them in the Greater Shasta County Area. At our Anderson campus, we provide shelter, dedicated care, and new beginnings for thousands of our community’s most vulnerable animals every year. In addition to pet adoptions and fostering, we focus on programs and services aimed at helping people care for and keep their pets, such as free and low-cost spay/neuter and vaccines, a pet food pantry, and licensing services. In 2023, Haven Humane helped more than 7,000 animals through adoptions, rehabilitation, lost & found, veterinary services, and Animal Regulations, and rescue.

PawsCo is a 100 percent volunteer-run 501(c)3 animal welfare organization in Denver. PawsCo is dedicated to reducing pet overpopulation with a comprehensive approach, which includes three divisions: Spay/Neuter, Pet Food Drive, and Adoptions. The different components of PawsCo work together to improve animal welfare in Colorado by reducing the number of unplanned litters through spay/neuter efforts, keeping animals in their homes through pet food drives, and serving as a resource to shelters through foster-based adoptions. In 2016, PawsCo performed 547 spay/neuter operations, collected and distributed more than 38,000 pounds of pet food within the community, and helped more than 250 animals find adoptive homes.
