The mission of Ohio Shorthair Rescue, Inc. (OSR), a not for profit organization, is to rescue, rehabilitate, and find appropriate, loving permanent homes for purebred German shorthaired pointers that are abused, abandoned, unwanted, cannot be cared for in their current home, or are in the custody of animal shelters, pounds, and the like. We also strive to educate the public about German shorthaired pointers, proper veterinary care, the importance of spay/neuter, responsible and humane pet care, training, and choosing the right pet.

You’ll find us working for change in churches and classrooms, in living rooms and union halls, in City Hall and in Salem.

For a very long time sea turtles were unprotected, but since the 1980's, volunteers have monitored and recorded nesting activity in New Smyrna Beach under a government permit. Volunteers from various backgrounds joined forces in an effort to protect nesting sea turtles, their eggs, and hatch-lings from beach driving and other human induced threats. In 2013, the volunteer group reorganized as the New Smyrna Beach marine turtle conservancy. With the help of Jessi Bruton, a graphic designer with New Smyrna Beach roots, the NSB turtle trackers brand was developed as the official name for the volunteers of the New Smyrna Beach Marine Turtle Conservancy. While the name of our group has changed, our goals have not. We are still committed to the tracking and conservation of threatened and endangered sea turtles and public education in new Smyrna Beach.

Healing Paws for Warriors is a veteran founded / veteran led 501(c)(3) that provides rescue-to trained ADA certified service dogs to veterans faced with Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) and Military Sexual Trauma (MST) at “no cost” to the veteran with continued support. Our team is comprised of a combat medical war veteran, practicing PTSD therapist, professional service dog trainer, a veterinarian, and many other supportive volunteers. Our dogs come only from local rescues. Our service dog trainer teaches the dogs and the veterans as a team. The dogs are not pets, they are service dogs with the complete protection and rights granted by the American with Disabilities Act.
