The Human-Animal Connection is an educational training program designed to bring out the best in people and animals. We bring therapy animals to anyone experiencing stress or compassion fatigue in the line of duty -- Veterans, health care providers, and first responders. Our services are offered free of charge to people and we use a structured method of therapeutic interaction based on mutual respect, gentleness, and empathy with the goal of increasing resilience and well-being.

Utah's Hogle Zoo has a rich, 100 year history. Guests come to appreciate and understand the animal kingdom - Nurturing respect for nature. It all began with an Asian elephant named Princess Alice.  100 years later, Utah's Hogle Zoo boasts over 800 animals - including three African elephants, Amur tigers and a polar bear. Beyond being a wonderful outing for families (the Zoo is one of the top paid-for attractions in the state), Hogle Zoo strives to offer educational opportunities through interactive exhibits and hands-on learning. Hogle Zoo is also committed to conservation and fostering a love of the animal kingdom and its environment. Just as you've likely discovered, trying to feed your own family, it can get expensive! HOLY SHIH TZU! is a no-kill rescue group operating out of foster homes in Kankakee and Champaign counties and specializing in all breeds of lap dogs, who often don't do well in a noisy shelter environment.

Our mission is to provide a compassionate safe-haven with quality food and medical care for dogs and cats; a temporary home for those able to be adopted and a forever home for those in need. What we do: 1. Provide respite and rehabilitation for dogs and cats preparing them for adoption, and a loving forever home to those unable to be adopted. 2.Perform community outreach in our area of Hollywood and Ravenel, two of the under served areas of Charleston County. 3. Provide food, medical services, spay/neuter, vaccinations and general wellness care. 4. Provide long-term care and a loving, final home for those animals whose adoption may be difficult due to age, medical or behavioral issues.

To save the lives of orphaned newborn kittens that would otherwise die or be euthanized due to lack of knowledge, care or resources. Newborn Kitten Rescue (NKR) is an entirely volunteer-run organization that relies on its foster families and donations from supporters to save little lives.

South American Initiative is currently addressing the political, health and social crisis in Venezuela by stepping up its efforts to aid and feed starving children and adults across Venezuela and other countries in South America.

Arkansas Paws in Prison is committed to rehabilitating inmates and giving rescue dogs a second chance at life by preparing them to be loving, obedient, adoptable pets. The Paws in Prison program pairs inmate trainers with rescue dogs for eight to ten weeks of obedience training and socialization in preparation for adoption. Prior to graduating from the program, each dog must pass the American Kennel Club’s Canine Good Citizen Ready test. Because the dogs are properly socialized and trained, their chances of adoption improve drastically, and the risk of being returned to a shelter for unruly behavior decreases significantly. Many of our program’s “graduates” have gone on to become therapy animals and service dogs, including the first water leak detection dog in North America. Paws in Prison collaborates with animal shelters and rescues throughout the state to advance its goal to reduce the number of dogs languishing in shelters and reduce the number of dogs euthanized each year in Arkansas. Since the program began in 2011, more than 2,400 dogs have been rescued, trained, and adopted by loving forever families. Additionally, Arkansas Paws in Prison strives to decrease recidivism rates by providing incarcerated individuals with the opportunity to give back to the community and acquire skills that support successful rehabilitation and re-entry into society. Over the years, Paws in Prison has continued to expand its capacity to fulfill the need for vocational training and rehabilitation programs for offenders. Male and female inmates at seven prison facilities throughout the state now have the opportunity to learn the vocational skill of dog training. Inmate trainers attend weekly professional training classes and maintain a daily journal of their dog’s progress, which improves their literacy and communication skills. In addition to employment skills, participants also gain interpersonal skills. The program teaches them responsibility, compassion, and to care for others. Many of the trainers are hired for animal-related jobs after parole. A number of released participants have dedicated their lives to saving animals and work for Paws in Prison’s partner rescues and shelters, and several have established successful careers as service dog trainers. One former inmate trainer now works in the prisons as a professional dog training instructor, teaching inmates in the program and serving as an example of what can be accomplished with hard work and dedication after incarceration. Spring Branch Rescue is a 501(c)(3)non-profit organization with a mission to care for lost, neglected, and abandoned pets in Spring Branch (Houston) by finding them loving new owners. We give hope & shelter to abandoned animals. We fight for those without voices.

RESCUE AND REHABALITATION OF DOMESTIC AND WILD ANIMALS

Reeds Rescue is a non-profit volunteer dog rescue organization serving the Northern Baltimore County area. We are dedicated to rescuing dogs of senior age or deemed to be terminally ill from area shelters, dogs given up by their owners because of difficult circumstances, and those in danger of decompensating in the shelter environment.

Washington Health Outreach improves community health by providing free and low cost veterinary, health, and social services for our neighbors.
