The Fraser Valley Youth Society currently operates the only service for Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, Transgendered, Queer, Questioning and Allied youth in Abbotsford. Our drop-in hosts 30 youth per week. Our goal is to facilitate a safe, open and non-judgmental space for youth to express themselves. This is achieved through our weekly drop in where youth can come and share experiences, learn life skills, build resiliency skills and gain social supports.
The society liaises with local services and those in surrounding communities in order to link our youth with support that goes beyond what we can provide. We participate in the Vancouver Pride Parade every year as well as other events hosted by GLBTQ service providers in Metro Vancouver.
We recently celebrated our fourth annual ‘Walk Away from Homophobia’ in Abbotsford. This event was attended by our youth and 160 other community members who take a vested interest in the issues faced by GLBTQ youth. We welcome your support!
