While the Vancouver Island Symphony may be one of Canada's youngest professional symphony orchestras, through growth and development over 19 years it has become one of the best regional orchestras in the country. Based in Nanaimo, on Vancouver Island BC, with performances at the award-winning The Port Theatre, the VI Symphony features world class guest artists. The goal of the VI Symphony is not only to present great symphonic music with an exceptional professional orchestra, but to have every child in the region hear and see a symphony. Each year the VI Symphony presents Education Concerts to over five thousand students. Designed for young audiences, every show is fresh and invigorating, using humour, story telling and audience participation. In 2013-2014 the VI Symphony will develop and produce a new Education Show written by Rick Scott and composition by Nico Rhodes.
