The Kingston Historical Society holds monthly meetings with guest speakers, publishes a monthly newsletter (Limelight) and a yearly journal (Historic Kingston).
The Society operates the Murney Tower National Historic Site as a museum. Murney Tower is part of a UNESCO World Heritage Site (Rideau Canal and the Kingston Fortifications).
The Society organizes and sponsors special heritage events and publications.
Annual events include a trip with a historical focus, a celebration of Sir John A. Macdonald's birthday, and a ceremony at Sir John A. Macdonald's gravesite at Cataraqui Cemetery.
