Our Mission

The Cowichan Intercultural Society (CIS) has been serving the Cowichan Valley Region for 32 years. Currently, CIS has 18 active community service programs, 13 board members, 16 staff members and 160 volunteers. CIS is the leading community resource for immigrant settlement services, and for education and awareness in developing welcoming and inclusive communities.

CIS provides multiple services and supports to numerous individuals, groups and communities. Each year, CIS hosts numerous community-building events in 11 communities in the Cowichan Valley Region, with more than 10,000 participants.

CIS is an integrated, accessible, and active organization. Every year more than 6,000 people drop in to our office and approximately 1,000 of them receive long term service. In addition, CIS works in partnership with over 40 community service providers and organizations to mutually strengthen and support our shared communities.
