Alleviating malnutrition and hunger in children through education and awareness.Chefs for Kids advocates childhood malnutrition through partnered programs that directly impact children's understanding of food. This is done by providing youth with fresh healthy food options and education. It is a fact that education is the key to long-term health and success.
This month the kids are learning about the health benefits from eating blood oranges. 🍊Our nutrition education lessons Introduces children to fresh fruits and vegetables through Produce Pick of the Month lessons, delivered by our partnered nutrition educators. Each month teachers visit Title I schools for 40 minutes of instruction in healthful nutrition practices based on the most current research, and the importance of physical activity. A program highlight is monthly food tasting where students sample the vegetable or fruit. Then they take part in a sensory evaluation analyzing its qualities and writing down adjectives that describe them. Children also participate in a physical movement activity each class.
