The mission of Northern Colorado Wildlife Center, a 501(c)3 independent nonprofit, is to protect wildlife and the places they call home through rescue, rehabilitation, education, and advocacy.* Rehabilitate sick, injured, and orphaned wildlife, and when successful, release those animals back into their natural habitats.* Educate the public about the natural histories of wildlife native to northern Colorado, ways to peacefully coexist with them, and provide humane solutions to human-wildlife conflicts.* Advocate for the preservation and restoration of native ecosystems that provide wildlife places to live and thrive.
Our team saved this young fawn after its mother was killed. We bottle fed the fawn until it regained its strength. Once it was stabilized, our team transferred the fawn to another wildlife rehabilitator who had other fawn orphans that this one could go with and be raised alongside.
Northern Colorado Wildlife Center discovered a helpless baby chipmunk, tragically orphaned and left to fend for itself. Determined to give this tiny creature a fighting chance, the team rallied together, providing round-the-clock care, warmth, and nourishment. With each passing day, the chipmunk grew stronger, adapting to its new surroundings under the watchful eyes of the dedicated staff. Finally, the day arrived when the chipmunk was ready to embark on its next adventure. With a bittersweet goodbye, the team released the now healthy and independent chipmunk back into the wild, knowing that they had given it a second chance at life. This heartwarming journey highlighted the unwavering commitment of the Northern Colorado Wildlife Center, their ability to nurture and rehabilitate, and the joy of witnessing a rescued baby chipmunk return to its rightful place in nature.
In the heart of Northern Colorado, the Northern Colorado Wildlife Center rescued a vulnerable Blanding's Turtle found abandoned far from its native range. Recognizing its endangered status, the center worked tirelessly to restore its health. With unwavering dedication, they arranged for its transfer to a local sanctuary specializing in endangered reptiles. There, surrounded by expert care and a natural habitat, the turtle found a new lease on life. This remarkable journey showcased the vital role of local wildlife centers in preserving endangered species and nurturing hope for a brighter future for our fragile ecosystems.
