People with disabilities represent the largest minority group in the nation and the only group any one of us could join at any time. This group crosses lines of ethnicity, gender, age and socioeconomic status. Yet, Americans with disabilities have the highest rate of unemployment, the highest rate of poverty and the lowest level of education of any minority grouless than 3 percent of institutionalized giving is directed to programs serving people with disabilities. They are the forgotten minority.
The ChairScholars Foundation, Inc. is a Florida-based charity with 501c (3) status. Our sole mission is to provide scholarships to low-income children with severe physical disabilities for college. We have three programs for this purpose; the Florida Program, the National Program and the New York Metropolitan Area Program.
