To help end hunger and wasted food
"In 2010, I found myself as a widow, living alone and faced with the harsh reality of losing my home in Santa Rosa. Overcoming the odds, I had already battled and triumphed over cancer twice, but now, on Social Security disability, I was struggling to make ends meet and barely keeping up with rent payments for my apartment. Then, in 2014, a glimmer of hope entered my life, thanks to the incredible support provided by Eden Housing. With their assistance, I was able to relocate to Novato, the place where my late husband and I had lovingly raised our three daughters. It was a heartwarming return to familiar grounds, a place filled with cherished memories. During this time, I also discovered the remarkable organization ExtraFood, which has offered me far more than just sustenance. Their deliveries aren't just food; they're a source of delicious nourishment and a delightful treat for me. As a senior, I find it challenging to go out to eat, making these deliveries is a lifeline and a special delight I eagerly look forward to. For all of this, I want to express my heartfelt gratitude. To say "thank you" feels insufficient. My heart swells with appreciation, and I am forever indebted to the kindness and support that have brightened my life. Thank you so much." -Mary, Eden Housing resident
