Pledge to make a difference, together.
The National Kidney Foundation of Illinois improves the health and well-being of people at risk for or affected by kidney disease through prevention, education and empowerment.
Community organizer David devoted himself to others at the expense of his own health. A diabetic who regularly took his required medications but hadn’t seen his primary care physician in months, David attended a NKFI KidneyMobile® preventative health screening. David’s screening indicated high blood sugar levels that could lead to complete kidney failure. NKFI's KidneyMobile Team advised him to immediately consult a physician. Upon NKFI’s follow-up the next day, David had already been to the ER, received new medication, and was preparing to see a dietitian for additional support. Ultimately, the experience changed David’s perspective on the importance of prioritizing his own health while serving his community.
