Pledge to make a difference, together.
Peter Pan Odv in an Italian non-profit organization established in 1994. It was founded by a group of parents with adolescent and children suffering from cancer who wanted to help other families facing the same situation. In particular, since 2000, the organization has created houses to give accommodation and assistance to families that do not reside in Rome and come to the Capital to treat their ill children. Peter Pan ha realized "La Grande Casa di Peter Pan", made of three houses located in Rome, which can host up to 65 families. It includes family rooms and various common areas, such as living room, dining room, kitchens, games room, garden etc. Besides accommodation, Peter Pan provides a wide range of services for the families during their stay. Peter Pan offers hospitality and services completely free of charge. This is made possible by many donations from individuals and companies and also thanks to the about 200 volunteers who offer their support 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Since its foundation, Peter Pan has provided temporary lodging and care to about 900 families, coming from all over Italy and abroad. Thanks to Peter Pan Houses, it is possible to reduce hospitalization rates for children and adolescents. As a matter of fact, Peter Pan provides accommodation not only to the children/teenagers and their parents, but also to other relatives like brothers and sisters, in order to keep the family united. Moreover, Peter Pan provides accommodation for the whole length of the therapy over the years, from the initial diagnosis, during treatment, until the follow up checks. On top of free accommodation, many services are offered to these families. Among them: transfer to/from hospitals, airports and train station, recreational activities, Italian language lessons for foreign families, psychological support for all members of the family, hair dressing for the mothers, birthday parties for children, theme parties (e.g. Carnival, Christmas, New Year's Day), concerts, theatre, administrative and logistic support, especially for foreign families. Moreover, Peter Pan helps to spread solidarity and volunteering culture, supports research and belongs to FIAGOP (Italian Confederation of Childhood Cancer Parents Organizations) which is part of CCI (Childhood Cancer International).
